Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!

Those birds look mean but trust me, if you pit a Nexus Whelpling against them, they go down faster than you can hit a third spell!

Haha, this setup always makes me cackle a little inside, it's too good!

All these years later, this strat still kicks ass; didn't even need the Tail Sweep. TY!

Yes still works!

And still!

Eric wrote on 2018-11-11 17:46:14

It might have been luck, but I used Arcane Storm first, then Mana Surge, and proceeded to watch my Nexus one-shot three pets in a row. Easily the most satisfying pet battle I have ever witnessed.

Used this strategy too and it seems to work, though under Shadowlands I did need an extra Tail Sweep.

elfinpcc

He doesn't have you do Arcane Storm first because the starting pet of the opposing team uses it, so you still get the double burst from the Mana Surge. However, I wondered what would happen if you used it first to hit all 3 pets, so thank you for the post.

VanyaMia

wrote on 2021-05-21 02:57:18

Mine is a PS breed so it *may* have gone before the opposing pet. Can't remember now but will check next time round.

Mine is a PS, as well, and it went second.

Nice strat, with a PP whelpling it's one shot one kill lol

The new Vibrant Gimmerfly and Wild Etherwyrm from Bastion are nice replacements that worked very well.

If you do arcane storm round one then mana surge the fight is over

Ivaelia

Still works during SL pre patch

VanyaMia

Yup, still works.

Khes

wrote on 2018-07-20 22:10:30

as of 8.0 works better if you do Storm then surge.

zeitlosen

wrote on 2018-08-20 06:43:26

People have said this before, but I'm curious about what works better with it? I have a PB Whelpling and by the time I have to Storm the second pet is already next to dead. The third pet gets hit with a dragon-racial storm and takes two tail swipes to go down.

Elantris#1820

wrote on 2019-03-02 11:22:24

Using Arcane Storm first causes the Mana surge to 1 shot each pet as it adds to the damage done by Mana Surge.

Remte

wrote on 2019-09-10 16:49:22

Arcane Winds are already up because Jahan uses AS too. That being said, I'd do some playing with racial… but Mana Surge's RNG on the top of the crit bonus can backfire and end in an overkill. Poor birds anyway!

ability(#2)
ability(#1)
change(next)

Note: Take manual control if for any reason you have to use your second pet.

Hobbyhorse wrote on 2017-06-19 03:23:31

I use Arcane Storm first, then Mana Surge. I do not need to use Tail Sweep.
This script do what it is suggested here.

TD Script:

ability(Mana Surge) [round=1]
ability(Arcane Storm)
ability(Tail Sweep)

Prudentius

wrote on 2018-06-20 14:22:57

This doesn't do what you suggested. This forces mana surge to go first. It also many mana surge weaker. You also need to remember that Jahan, the first enemy pet, casts Arcane Storm in the first round and that if Arcane Storm is cast with arcane winds active it does additional damage.

Feorthorn wrote on 2018-04-22 02:09:25

Regardless of what some comments say, the strategy works best if followed as outlined. Don't switch 2 and 3 around. Good work.

Santo wrote on 2017-06-25 19:20:59

Lol....Didn't even get to use tailsweep and all I had was an uncommon P/P Whelpling!

Aryel wrote on 2016-12-28 00:19:56

A Flyer just can't cut it against a Magic wielding Dragon.

Santo wrote on 2017-06-11 01:47:25

I have to lol because I did it with a lvl 20 and lvl 19 Nexus Whelplings. The 20 died but the 19 finished off with half health left. Had another lvl 19 waiting just in case but not needed. LOL

Benaji wrote on 2017-02-26 06:24:15

After 100 battles on this build and a new owner of a lvl 3 menagerie, I found it better to cast 3 then 2 about 60% of the time due to the crits and dragon kin dmg. Samm gets smashed this way. If you don't win with those cast 3 again to end the fight.

Zaymaa wrote on 2016-12-12 11:40:40

Great strat....fast and easy!
