While Court Scribe should be easier to get, for continuity's sake: Eye of Corruption will work too (with the script unchanged), and you can make it a few seconds faster by using Eyeblast in round 4. (edited)

this is a good suggestion, thank you. using eye of corruption 221 abilities, i injected some code into the script that will use eyeblast if enemy 2 is flying up in the air. it shaves a few seconds off the fight like you said. this is my first time editing script so maybe there's a better way to do it, but this is working great for me.

did anyone else have issues using this strategy with the renown covenant level 27 pets? I have tried like 6 times and it never level them. leveled up close to 40 pets with no issues except for all 4 renown lvl 27 pets. (edited)

The Renown 27 pets are known to be bugged. You can use stones on them, but not use them in battles, so you can't level them through battles. All we can do is wait for a fix from Blizzard.

So I accomplish this just a little bit slower since I can't get lucky with a surger dropping by using the Netherspace Abyssal and crush/explode. After the scribe dies I just use crush to kill the dragon then explode when murloc comes back in, works everytime for me.

Good Morning :) I wanted to share that for this strat, you can sub in the Eye of Corruption. Same strat, however sub in Nether Blast for Arcane Blast. The Nether Blast is a wee bit stronger but still allows the first pet to go down when needed to bring in the Surger and still allow the Surger to make that ultimate sacrifice <3

Has my vote as the all time finest strategy. Not only is it very quick and extremely reliable, there is nothing you have to watch. No "if" conditions. Nothing depends on anything you have to check, like whether this guy is dead yet, or how much health he has left or what ability is off cooldown. Always the same 10 key presses: 1 1 1 1 1 3 3 2 3 2. Every time. (I just use another arcane blast in case of the pass for simplicity)

I have thought this myself (and I press Arcane Blast instead of Passing too!) but I think that the Squirt strat with Bronze Whelpling and Widget is just as precise. Or maybe you'd award extra style points for Surger's strategic self-sacrifice. :)

The problem is on your end. The strategy works every time.

Amplify Magic can screw it up, though, by killing the murloc too soon, leaving Surger alive at the end. For your leveling pet to get experience, both the scribe and Surger MUST die. (edited)

I don't get it how this strategy is the most voted one. I tried it and out of 5 fights, 3 of them Surger dies before killing the Sir Galveston. Basically, at the last hit, he kills himself without killing the murloc, leaving me with the lvl 1 pet to fight vs the murloc that will one shot him. The best strategy that worked for me with this tamer, was the Court Scribe+ Barnaby+ leveling pet.

The only time I've ever had it fail is when Court Scribe got back to back crits on Coach which resulted in Surger still being alive at the end. Very reliable strat. Very fast.

You are right in general, but this strat is exceptionally elegant. The final Stone Rush kills your Surger, and the level pet is forced in as the final survivor just as the battle ends. It's a common mechanic when used with Explode, but the use of Stone Rush to the same effect here is pure artistry.

there is an astronomically low chance for surger to die. it probably won't happen to you, but for min-maxing i recommend using the H/S breed ;)

To fail requires a crit from any one of the self-damage ticks from the first 2 Body Slams or the first Stone Rush and a crit from Darkflame.

In ~200 battles, this strat only failed twice. Not because of Surger, either, it was due to Scribe 2-shotting Coach. Coach needs to die on round 5 otherwise Falling Murloc will still be on cd.
2 out of over 200 is really good for the speed of the battle.

Also, line 2 in the TDScript is totally unnecessary. If your first Arc Blast crits Coach, it still will not be enough to remove the Flying buff. It can only crit for 730, and Coach has 1500hp.

This is all you need for the script:
