Strategy from Incandio via Wowhead. I now prefer this strategy over the MPD+Tonk strategy that I used for years. There is one possible stun RNG when swapping to Molten Corgi, but it doesn't make you lose the fight. It's even possible to defeat Fezwick before MPD even dies.

This strategy can be used for both Darkmoon Faire pet battles. Credit to KD135 on Wowhead who posted the strategy here: https://www.wowhead.com/npc=67370/jeremy-feasel#comments:id=3125388
Author claims 98% success rate. I've used it a couple dozen times now for both battles and have yet to lose. If your goal is to just get the daily quests done quickly, this is the one for you! |

I've been using Remte's Ashstone Core strategy for the longest time without fail, but recently decided to find something that was faster. Utilising the DOT damage of the Tiny Bog Beast combined with his stun speeds up the fight significantly. Victory should take between 16-18 rounds.

I found this on Wowhead, deven1969's Strategy #4, back when these were about the only pets I had leveled to 25. While there is some RNG and it will occasionally fail, overall, it has proven to be a very solid, though time-consuming, strat.
Your leveling pet will take no damage, so there's no requirements for them. The script is very specific about rounds, because it's a lot of swapping back and forth. As I was testing this in prep for posting it, after having used the strat dozens of times, something that I've never seen before happened--Personal World Destroyer died and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling was still alive. To account for this, I scripted MPD using Breath to finish them off. |

"fails often post-BFA"
Just posting some statements without any arguments </3
2019...
Still works :D nothing ever changed since the strategy was made.
I am literally doing it everyday to level up an alt whenever DMF is up... 4% of level daily (8% lev for both DMF pet battles per day)
Either:
- you are doing something terribly wrong (?)
- your Breed is not correct for Mechanical Axebeak.
(but o be honest any Mechanical Axebeak Breed should work, not sure, cause this pet is just so cheap to make/buy that there is no reason to use any other than P/P or S/S (aka best ones))
I've never actually thought this strategy will "fail" for anybody.. but okay!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let's say that you had VERY BAD RNG and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died super early...
So lets assume that happened, you are pissed, but instead of using Mechanical Axebeak's DECOY vs Honky-Tonk, you decided to waste your precious time, downrating the strategy, and saying how bad it is, and doesnt work, etc :"(
All you have to do is T H I N K !! (sorry, caps intended) :P
VS Honky-Tonk -> just start with Mechanical Axebeak -> DECOY
(should probably include it in the strategy years ago, but in like 99/100 tries you dont even need that, even if your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling got stunned, or died early)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TL;DR (too long; didn't read)
Strategy always worked, and still works in BFA/5th of February 2019!
If somehow you are in the worst possible situation, and your Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling died super early (vs Honky-Tonk)
Bring Mechanical Axebeak:
- start with DECOY! (caps intended) :P
- Alpha Strike until Honky-Tonk is dead
- swap to any level pet (to eat Fezwick's stun)
- swap back to Mechanical Axebeak -> Haywire -> Alpha Strike until Fezwick is dead.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PS: Making some of the strategies can literally take HOURS of testing...
Let's respect other people time and effort. :'(

I do agree its hard making strats and just saying "it sucks", "or failed for me" but not putting why is tough and doesn't help the creator improve it.

One thing that should probably be updated in the description is to specify that Decoy should be chosen for the Mechanical Axebeak's third ability slot (right now it indicates that the third slot doesn't matter). And if the MPD dies early (on Honky-Tonk), Axebeak should be brought in, and Decoy should be used first before Alpha Strike. It's not always vital, but it helps give a little buffer to protect against weird crits or Banana Barrage hits.

I even have a H/P Mechanical Axebeak, which isn't even one of the ones that says works, and I have zero issues with that too. Hell, half the time it kills the pet with just Haywire.
If you get unlucky and Honky Tonk kills your dragonling (often caused by Honky-Tonk stunning it), just use Decoy first with your Axebeak, then use Alpha Strike.
I'd highly recommend updating the strategy to recommend using Decoy if your Dragon dies to Honky Tonk and removing the Breed Requirement on the Axebeak, or at least adding H/P to the possible breeds, because I'm proof H/P is viable. I'm not sure if S/S is viable, but I can't imagine it would fail, as I always end up with over 50% health on my axebeak no matter what.

Scrapped the original script I wrote and created this one with some sanity checks, a less rigid structure, and more efficient character usage.
Found that if Honky-Tonk uses Lock-On twice without being blocked by Decoy the fight is very likely going to fail as there's a fair chance that Fezwick can wreck the Mechanical Axebeak with a good Smash. For this reason this script will abort if MPD dies.

P/P Axebeak is the best (cause its flying pet) but S/S should work anyway, even with bad RNG u could just use Decoy (that u dont really need) > Haywire > Alpha Strike
but there is no point having other Axebeak than P/P (like most of flying pets)
SPEED IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, it counters stuff so hard, f.e if u are faster and u use dodge, u actually dodges two rounds #hyjalwisp or some s/s rats ^^
Flying Pets have the most OP passive (arguable with mechanical, especially superfast mechanicals) 50% speed above 50% health
if u can outspeed your enemy, 2nd best stat is P=Power
which means (usually) P/P for flyings, S/S or P/S for the other pets.
Before u "failed twice in a row" like Anonymous did <3 use addons: BattlePetBreedID + PetBattleMaster
Breeds are as much important as your character 2ndary stats.

If u are faster than enemy u dodge 2 rounds with Dodge abilities
Flying pets have 50% speed above 50% HP so they almost always open, which makes P/P best breed for Flying pets for MOST OF FIGHTS (never said all of them) especially this one.
Remte what is complicated with flying pets? ^^
They are just OP when above 50% hp, but below they are still very good (especially if u have S/S flying pet with good abilities, that can still outspeed your enemy even if u are below 50% HP)

but...
You guys need to get one thing clear (there s a lot comments about what to use 1st "decoy or thunderbolt?!"
The Answer is: Thunderbolt>Decoy>Breath as a filler untill your MPD is dead
TL;DR aka Longer Explanation (below)
I ve tested both ways, I am doing it every single day, since years, when DMF is up :P
This is very easy fight, just use Thunderbolt FIRST then Decoy, you will never fail, i promise!
The reason why you want Thunderbolt 1st (over Decoy) is delaying the fight for your Cooldowns, so you wont kill 1st pet before your 2nd Thunderbolt which brings enemy Tonk pretty low.
but if you use Decoy 1st, it may fck up everything!
There is a lot of RNG vs Tonk! Sometimes he will use his 2 rounds ability, which gives u 1 free damage round, but sometimes he wont... >.<
This is why you want to hit Tonk with second Thunderbolt, and then in worst scenario finish with Mechanical Axebeak's -> Alpha Strike.
PS: I used to hate this monkey so much!! (when i didnt know much about pet battles) and then i found out this awesome pet-Mechanical Axebeak which makes it trivial ^^
When Tonk is dead, it is VERY EASY! Next part is just a faceroll...
Monkey joins the fight, you bring level 1 pet (don't attack) swap back to Mechanical Axebeak
Haywire -> Alpha Strike

Your original suggestion gave two options and you were saying they are roughly equally viable:
Decoy -> Thunderstorm -> ...
Thunderstorm -> Decoy -> ...
I found that using Decoy first will give let you use it again against Honky-Tonk one round earlier as well, often making a huge difference. What made you change your mind here?

Quoting myself
"2 alternatives, some people use method A, some method B, doesnt really matter, BUT I PREFERE METHOD A" :P
METHOD A: Thunderbolt on CD > Decoy on CD > Spam Breath
METHOD B: Decoy on CD > Thunderbolt on CD > Spam Breath
anyway if people are failing with method B, Something's Not Quite Right ;) this fight is very easy with both methods, tho i find method A better, like i explained above.
my explanation yesterday was, because i saw Maelenn's post.

The fail risk for this strategy is very, very low. You should not have any problems. But perhaps it's the breed of your Mechanical Axebeak. Which one are you using?

best breed for flying pets in most situations is P/P and 2nd best is P/S
(best two breeds for other families most of the time too)
another best breed is S/S vs fights where u have to be faster than your enemy, and your pet isnt flying one)
Summing things up.
Best breeds in general: PS >= SS > PP
for flying pets PP > PS > sometimes SS > other ones.
Breeds addon: BattlePetBreedID must have for any pet battler
