It didn't work for me, but maybe that's because I didn't understand when to stop Leaping and swap to the Spirit Clawing. Either way, Armageddon got me. (manual user)

First attempt at this I had rotten luck since the spirit claws missed 3 times in a row. 2nd attempt the cub finished the fight though.

Er,,,after I brought in Ban-Fu, Cub of Ban-Lu I just kept it in for the Chicken; Prowl Spirit Claws Moonfire finished the fight for me. No RNG, no third pet... (edited)

Needed my 3rd pet to finish it off on one attempt, and another attempt Xufu was able to win handily. Rather RNG heavy but only time-wise.
