The damage range of Arcantus' Mana Surge won't necessarily kill Baa'l in Round 4 without the additional damage from Arcane Winds. You can replace Abyssius with Baa'l (Scorched Earth > Murder the Innocent > Shadowflame). This way your Explode pet doesn't need that much HP, but it'll also take the chance for 5 rounds.
