Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!

No, it didn't. I don't remember Bone Crusher being able to keep me from swapping. He snared my Nexus Whelpling after it got swapped in, and I couldn't swap back to my Anomalus. I lost pretty badly. They must have added that recently.

Bloog's mudslide has the snare. Its been sometime since I have used this strat, so I am probably wrong, but I will give it a shot....
It is my understanding Anomalus dies to Bonecrusher and Nexus Whelpling would not be swapped with no alternate pets available.

Something has changed about this strat... It's not even close. Bloog crits way too often. My team is dead and Bone Crusher has 900+ health remaining.

H/H Val'kyr P/P Anomalus P/B Nexus Whelpling.

I tried bringing in Val'kyr after haunt is over just to squeeze a few more hits in. Doesn't work either.

Whatever has changed... Not sure, but I've tried it several times.

I'm just wondering why we sacrifice Unborn Val'kyr on the 2nd round, knowing Unholy Ascension won't hit Bloog.

I've used this strategy for several fights, I follow the steps to the letter. And RNG does play a role in it. I do win more times than lose with it.

I started putting Shadow Shock in the 2nd round and Unholy Ascension in the 3rd. That way Bloog gets the benefit of having 25% increased damage from Anomalus' first hit as well. I understand all pets get that "benefit", but why deny Bloog from the pleasure of it as well?

(OP) Mutanis

wrote on 2021-10-11 08:55:17

Curse of Doom (Turn1) + Corrosion (Turn3) + Poison Protocol (Turn4) + Void Nova (Turn5) is enough to kill Bloog. So you don't need Unholy Ascension. (edited)

Vachon8449

wrote on 2021-10-11 15:01:38

In most cases you don't need it, but RNG has caused me to lose the battle. When I apply it to Bloog, I've not lost a battle yet. I may not need it to kill Bloog, but killing him sooner (with the increased 25% damage) helps with the RNG for not losing a battle, in my opinion.

(OP) Mutanis

wrote on 2021-10-11 16:52:17

It doesn't make sense to use Shadow Shock in the second round because it will miss (Burrow)
Your version won't work with B/B Val'kyr:
T1 Curse of Doom
T2 Shadow Shock ? --> misses Bloog
T3 Unholy Ascension
T4 Corrosion
T5 Poison Protocol
Bloog dies and Bone crusher comes in
T6 Void Nova
T7 Corrosion (25% chance that you can't use Corrosion because of Headbutt + Bone crusher has full hp (Devour)
--> Nexus Whelpling can't finish the fight
With H/H Val'kyr:
Actually the same strategy like the original but 10 rounds (longer) and much more RNG. It fails when anomalus gets too many critical hits or Curse of Doom hits critical or Bone Crusher crits with Horne Gore (also depends which Nexus Whelpling breed you are using)

Gráinne

There are several people who investigate reports of problems with strategies on Xu-Fu's. There are designated Strategy Curators, and other regulars who read comments and are interested in the latest.

In this case, I know the author of the strat also responds to comments, where the comments say something useful.

In my experience, when people leave a short "It didn't work" note, they usually made a mistake. Maybe they used a pet with the wrong Speed, maybe they didn't do a Pass where it was indicated, sometimes they were even using the team and strat from a completely different battle. :)

Sometimes there genuinely is a problem with the strat. This is where the Curators and others come in, checking the strat for weaknesses, and fixing it or removing it if it can't be fixed.

Since most failure reports with no details are wrong, it's not good to waste people's time investigating them. Instead, help them by providing the information they need.

If the strat failed for you, and you want your comment to be taken seriously:

1. Specify EXACTLY which species and breeds you used.

2. Specify whether you read the strategy from the site and executed it manually, or downloaded and used the tdScript.

3. Specify EXACTLY where the first unexpected thing happened, the first thing that deviated from what the strat predicts. What died too early? What didn't die when it was supposed to? What attack missed?

4. If possible, provide a log. You can see your log in the Pet Battle tab of your chat box. You can pull that out, make it bigger, screenshot it. Better still, you can use the addon Battle Pet Log Keeper from Curseforge, and do /pblk and Save Battle when the battle you want to log is complete.

Almost any strat can fail to a really unlucky string of crits, and some difficult challenge strats like the Family ones may fail more than anyone likes, but the people behind this site do their best to promote well-working strats. Do your part. Provide useful information.

Struggled with this strat, are there preferred breeds? My Anomalus died before casting void nova three times, fourth time it worked. My Anomalus is P/P. Wonder if casting Unholy Ascension on turn 3 might help? (edited)

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-06-07 09:13:03

Were there crits on your Anomalus? How many? With what abilities?

I use this strat at the moment, and have never failed with it. I use a H/H Valk, but looking at it, a B/B should be equally good. I use a P/P Nexus Whelpling, which Mutanis indicates is inferior to the P/B in this case, but it has never given me any problem. Anomalus has no other breeds. (edited)

(OP) Mutanis

wrote on 2021-06-07 09:28:41

It doesn't matter if you are using B/B or H/H Valkyr and Anomalus has only one breed. There is a small chance that Anomalus dies on Turn 5 (0.25%). It happens when both powerballs (T4 & T5) hit your anomalus critical. So I guess you were (really) unlucky.
But i highly recommend using a P/B Nexus Whelpling. I have done some nerdy calculations and the winrate with PP/PS NW is ~97.3% and with P/B NW ~99.62% :D

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-06-07 12:31:13

Shucks! What was I THINKING, struggling on with a mere ~97.3% chance of success when I could have had a ~99.62% chance? :P

MageVaire

wrote on 2021-06-14 02:27:40

I didn't keep a record, but it must have been Powerball/Burrow crits from Bloog that was taking out my Anomalus. I tried this strat twice today, and it worked. Perhaps the random number generator was offline the first time I tried it? Confirming that all my pets are 25 Rares, was using H/H Unborn and P/B Nexus

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-06-14 05:01:59

"Perhaps the random number generator was offline the first time I tried it?" LOL. Now, how do we get a team in to sabotage Blizzard's Random Number Generator? :)

Sounds you fell into Mutanis' numerical breakdown of probabilities. Yeah, a lot af strats are vulnerable to 2 crits at just the wrong places, so about 1 in 400 chance, and that doesn't happen enough to get much notice, or to care about.

(OP) Mutanis

wrote on 2021-06-15 04:23:24

Burrow can't do more than 362 damage (magic racial) and a crit won't change anything. As I wrote it depends how often powerball crits.

MageVaire

wrote on 2021-07-04 00:19:01

I must be the unluckiest... today it failed 1st time, Anomalus died before Bloog, no crits from Bloog. Second time, worked again with a turn to spare. *shrug* EDIT: So, I'm a noob. The problem was that I was using Poison Protocol, Void, then Corrosion. Wrong order, Corrosion should have gone first. Sorry! (edited)
