Background and explanation in the comments.
In slot 3, you can use any pet with Ion Cannon, but note that the G0-R41-0N Ultratonk is the only one that doesn't have a 1-round standard attack, so in that sense it's worse than the other options. It will still work though, and often you won't even need to use any attacks to get Trike low before using Ion Cannon, especially with him burning each round. |

Quick, reliable strat with no stuns and no feigning of death.
Shadowlands update: I made changes to reduce the odds of failing to crits. I recommend taking pets in slots 2 and 3 with as much HP as possible to be on the safe side. I also realised the strategy could be somewhat improved, at the cost of being less interesting. The new strategy takes 1-2 rounds longer than this one, but doesn't have the tiny chance of a pet dying at the wrong time and messing things up. It also uses different pets in slot 3. I've combined two strategies together for those, who already used some of their pets and don't have a spare one. You can also use Elekk Plushie if there is no unlucky crits

There is about a 10% risk for this strategy to fail. If you use it, best do Dr. Goldbloom first to avoid the frustration of having to start over because of this.

This strategy was originally posted by Mel on WoWhead. A very reliable method to beat Dr. Goldbloom with pets not hard to acquire.

This is one of the few strategies for Ion Goldbloom that does not involve constant pet swaps thanks to Lil'Tarecgosas sacrifice in the beginning. There is roughly a 5% risk for this strategy to fail though.

Strategy built for speed. It takes around 12 rounds. As with every other strat for this battle, there is a small (~4%) chance of failure so it's best to do this one first

I would advice for Elekk Plushie as #3.

If the beginning of this fight works out and you can get Life Exchange through (about 90% chance), the strategy works flawlessly. However there is this small 10% risk of it to fail in the beginning, so best do this fight up first if you take these three pets along!

DragonsAfterDark: Strategy has been updated with a better slot #1 pet, since most people were having issues with the previous one. Enjoy! ^^

This is based on my existing strategy. The existing strategy swaps in an Iron Starlette once Scorched Earth and Flame Breath are active on Chaos, then prepares a Supercharged Wind-Up to kill Trike the round he comes in. It's a good strategy, but due to the nature of Chaos's attacks, and Chaos having two different breeds, there's a small chance for a pet to die early when mulitple crits occur.
While trying to see if there was a way to remove the possibility of failure entirely, I realised that I didn't need to synch up a supercharged Wind-Up with Trike coming in. I could just let the elemental stay in until it died, then a third pet can clean up whatever is left. So, yeah. Here's this strat. It might take 1 or 2 rounds longer than my first one, but there's not the same chance of things going wrong if a pet dies too soon, either your own pet or Chaos. I believe that overall , this is a better strategy. But it still feels bad after spending so much time working on a strategy that is much more interesting than this one.
But we're all here for efficiency, not spectacle. (edited)
