Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
This strategy has been built to be as fast as possible.
The strategy takes a while. Sit back, get yourself a warm drink and relax the scenery.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
The strategy offers a TD script that can be used with the TD Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
Caution (SL)
This strategy was created pre-Shadowlands and has not been tested or adapted. It might not work anymore.
Strategy was tested and will NOT work with Shadowlands. Needs major changes or removal.
This table shows the level increase for completing the fight with level 25 pets and one carry pet.
Partial level experience is not included in the calculation.

For those still trying and struggling like I did, here's the one that finally worked for me (from mmo-champ).

It was a little tight:

Benax 1 1 1
Ghostshell Crab 2 2 1
Gulp Froglet X 1 2

This mitigates the RNG as much as possible, but there is still some. If at any point Void Gate crits Benax, restart.

Turn 1 - Pass (Ghostshell Crab forced in)
Turn 2 - Spirit Spikes (Gloamwing must strike exactly twice, otherwise restart)
Turn 3 - Bubble
Turn 4 - Switch to Benax - Gulp Froglet is forced in
Turn 5 - Mudslide
Turn 6 - Corpse Explosion (Gloamwing must strike no more than four times, otherwise restart)
Switch to Benax
Turn 7 - Bubble
Turn 8 - Mudslide
Turn 9 - Water Jet
Turn 10 - Pass (Dies)
Turn 11 - Grasp
Turn 12 - Bubble
Turn 13 - Grasp
Turn 14 - Grasp

Good luck!

OMG!!!! Finally. Tried half a dozen strats - thankfully had 250 bandages - ended at 215 after this @#%@ fight! ONLY stat that worked. First time Gloam ended at 65ish health so best RNG so far, 3 more times to get the RNG to line up and fnished with Ghostshell Crab at 56% health. THANK YOU!!!

Cause I was curious I watched the video and here comes the strat (a nice strat, but, to be honest, not much better due to 2 rare pets):

Magical Crawdad (2/X/2)
Ghostshell Crab (2/2/1)
Gulp Froglet (X/X/2)

- Surge
- Spirit Spikes
- Bubble
- Swap in Crawdad
- Corpse explosion
- Bring in Crawdad
- Wish
- Surge
- 2x Grasp
- Spirit Spikes
- Grasp

And now I'm going on searching for a strat without that damn froglet...

Just make sure your Froglet has more than 257 power. I lost every time when I had a H/B with 257 power, swapped it out for one that is B/B 260 power and won the first time with it.

Depends also on RNG if you only have a H/P Froglet. Gloamwing needs to hit 3 times when the Spirit Spikes are up, else Grasp will not kill Gloamwing

Highly recommend this alternative approach using the Magical Crawdad and Ghostshell Crab x2. Took about 30 battles, but it finally worked flawlessly for me. The stars must indeed be aligned on not getting one-shot on Predatory Strike and getting the proper number of hits to benefit from Spirit Spikes. But rather than trying to camp a very difficult to get pet on Timeless Isle (and it not even proving to be the right breed type), fish up daggermaws at DMF (or pluck 1/2 off the AH) en route to a victory. Frustrating fight, but it's feasible and, ultimately, easier than gambling on 2 proper-breed gulp froglets. :) The Xu-Fu guide administrators should add this above as a feasible option.

There are two conditions to win this using above mentioned strategy:
1) No crits from Gloamwing
2) Thee hits on each Spirit Spikes
So far no luck for me (around 70 bandages)

I used a modified version of the EU forums strat:

Gulp Froglet (B/B - didn't have H breed) (x-x-2)
Ghostshell Crab (2-2-1)
Sea Calf (2-1-2)

Gulp Froglet - Pass
Ghostshell Crab - Bubble, Grasp, Spirit Spikes (yes, need 3 hits against you and dead crab)
Gulp Froglet - Corpse Explosion
Sea Calf - Bubble, Blood in the Water (50/50 RNG), Surge spam til Gloamwing died

Took only a few bandages after burning a ton of bandages trying it with Magical Crawdad or Tiny Blue Carp in first slot (and Sea Calf in third since I didn't have two Ghostshell Crabs).

My terrible... but somewhat workable if persistent enough strat has been improved.

This is what sharing is all about. Someone starts something... and someone else modifies and improves.

Credit should go to Semi. And HIS strat [not mine] should be added as an ALT tp the others.

My original should now only be considered if you have 0 gulps.

You can use Fishy instead of the crawdad, but you must be lucky, either get a crit like I got, or only get hit once when you cast whirlpool (I actually got hit once and got a crit) so Fishy survives the void swap in order to deliver the killing surge last round :) I managed to kill him without the need for the last Fishy surge. PS: I used spirit claws and hit all of them, they do more damage than the watery shit.

essentially, if you don't have Gulp Froglet specifically, you literally CANNOT do this achiev. lol. Since Gulp Froglet is the ONLY aquatic pet with Swarm, which gives you a much needed 100% damage buff. I've tried this with many combinations of Benax/Mudjumper (using Mudslide and Bubble), Moonshell Crab (Using Sheel Shield and Arcane Slash) Young Mutant War Turtle (using Smoke Bomb to dodge swap and Tornado Punch hoping for a stun, Tideskipper using Geyser for the damage and Stun, Puddle Terror with Nature's Ward to change type and Dive to avoid damage, etc....literally nothing gets me any where close. Some of these new pets are a little too tightly tuned, being impossible to complete achievs for if you don't have the exact right pet. Kind of a drag. : / Worse still, I've been begging trade chat for Gulp Froglet for days, offering as much as 30k for one, since none are in AH. Awesome.

I paid 52K gold for a second one - and tried 30 times, only ONCE getting off a swarm, and never another or corpse explode. Blizz needs to nerf the speed of this bird if it is to be done

There are none on the AH on the servers where I have characters with gold and Bufo is being heavily camped on those servers as well. I've tried the 2 croc/gulper strat at least 50 times by now and RNG is simply not giving me a break. Ridiculously frustrating and not fun.

See if you have a good friend to lend you theirs. One of my friends let me borrow theirs. I leveled it to 25 also :) I just hope I can win this battle soon >_<

@Anony - Heh, I did try that. No one I know has the right breed, or they don't have the pet at all. Really crazy stuff.

Mathematically, that's not true.
Its possible to solo Gloamwing with Mr. Chilly or Pengu or Tundra Penguin
How?
Slippery Ice (reduces hit chance by 20%)
Again, its mathematically possibly, but the chances Gloamwing missing you 10+ consecutive turns is astronomically small.

Mouseover the "?" menu button on the toolbar, that will get things moving again. Don't know why it works, but it does.

47 attempts before rng went my way on this strat. Takes some time, but it definitely works once slicing winds is friendly against you :)

I did not have a 2nd Gulp as well, I found a team off of http://ptr.wowhead.com/npc=128015/gloamwing#comments Suggested by archey01 and 3ceph0los .
Snarly 1.1.2, Gulp Froglet 2.1.2, Toothy 1.1.2
Surge
Mudslide
Corpse Explosion -If Gulp does before this, you have to restart
Rip
Surge
Blood in the Water
Surge

I don't know how this strat is supposed to work. Gulp Froglet is destroyed before ever getting Corpse Explosion off. I tried Frog Kiss instead of mudslide and that did allow the explosion to hit, Gloamwing still killed off both crocs with over 1/4 of Gloamwings health left.

I can confirm this works with a H/B Gulp Froglet but you need to roll 2 times in a row a 1 slicing wind. Just to clarify, what I did after Corpse Explosion was to summon my damaged pet, after that just went RIP > BitW > Surge > BitW > Surge > Surge (I didn't need this last one).

It only works if Gloamwing hits once, after Gulp Froglet uses Mudslide - as noted in this original post. *Dies, not "does"

Eventually works, as people have pointed out, your Gulp makes it through to corpse explosion. I found that then bringing in Snarly for a rip, blood in the water, surge (if still alive), then Toothy for Blood in the water, surge worked for me.

This is a painful fight, just when you think that FINALLY he didn't double slicing wind you he hits snarly 3 times and you are back to square one.
However, after 30 or so attempts I finally got it. As per the previous comment, you need two single hit winds in a row so that Snarly can hit with blood in the water. Just keep trying, you will get it eventually.

Galnis wrote on 2017-09-07 06:35:53

If you swap into the undamaged croc after Corpse Explosion, the success rate will be a lot higher. The undamaged croc will be able get off Rip, BitW and surge as long as slicing winds don't hit 3 times. The first croc will only need to tank 1 void gate, so he should easily be able to get off BitW and Surge.
The fight still contains a lot of rng, but this will make it take less attempts at least.

This FINALLY worked. I tried the featured strategy 30ish times and could not get it to work. This one I finally got the RNG on my side after seven attempts.

I got lucky once with only one slicing wind and then failed when I swapped in the damaged croc. After that failure I read and decided to try for what Galnis said about swapping in the undamaged croc then after about 12 more attempts I got it. Thank you Myika and Galnis!!!

I skipped the surge after the rip and finally won. After Corpse Explosion, Rip, BitW, Surge, Die, BitW and Surge for the win.

After about 100 of these, I finally got a 1 slicing on gulp/snarly. I got off BITW with Toothy and all I had to do was hit surge. Unfortunately I hit Rip for some stupid reason.
Thankfully I managed to pull it off about 20 pulls later. I used a H/P Gulp by the way

This one worked, actually! Two Spirit Crabs and two Gulp frogs did not though, too many tries. Gulp showld be H/P or H/B, B/B will not be enough to survive one Slicing wind.

Took over 20 tries, but it worked.

Note: Seems to work better bringing in Toothy before Snarly. But it's all luck.
Good LUCK!
