UPDATE: This strategy by Rikade on Wowhead still works as of the Shadowlands pre-patch. As stated in the comments below if you have a P/S, P/P, P/B Starlette AND you get critted by Otto, you will die and have to start over. It doesn't happen very often from my experience with a P/B Starlette.
DragonsAfterDark: 4 August 24, changes to strategy instructions and script have been made in OP's absence due to DoT changes for Toxic Smoke. |

No Whirlpool crit protection yet. :(
When my Bombling crit before the shield was cast, it oneshot Mr. Pointy. Another 5x Zap and Explode saved the fight. For a crit in the following round, skip a Zap and proceed with the mines. With the current stat requirements, pet #1 can withstand a single crit of Water Jet. The minimum is 1417 HP. |

With 10.2 Changes I have modified (9/12/23):
* P/S is now the only one which is 10 rounds (Other breads would be 11). * H/P is all but fail proof but standard 11 rounds (others approx 1-2%). * H/H potentially adds an extra round (makes it 12) and is not fail proof. * There is a chance level pet will get no xp due to final wind-up crit (~5%). I've changed to Obsidian Warwhelp from Timeless Mechanical Dragonling (which can be used as alternative and still does work but adds at least 5% chance to fail due to getting a crit kill on SYD early) Have only practically tested with P/P, H/P and P/S Iron Starlette (with both Obsidian and TMD) if you try others, please let me know the results. |

Not trying to level, just trying to complete the daily quest with as much consistency and as fast as possible each day. This script has a consistent 8 round KO, and a very rare 6 round KO. :)

Powerball is used to get the speed advantage over Mr. Pointy and Otto.
Thus, this strategy should work with any Starlette-breed (mine is P/H), since Trunks softens up Mr. Pointy with AoE. The only Starlette-breed that could have a problem might be H/H. |

Cooked this up cause I don't have Enchanted Broom yet. It's slow but it's very consistent. A few unlucky crits should still be manageable. It's hilarious how Hyjal Wisp can basically solo the entire fight, we only let it die to facilitate the level pet.
You can probably replace Darkmoon Zeppelin with another Explode pet, but it'll most likely cost additional turns; Missile brings Otto's HP down to just enough for Explode threshold. |

But I guess it's more a script problem than a strat issue because doing it manually (Yes, I am a rebel) means you can keep following those steps has you did before.

This is assuming you have a rare-quality Broom. That is essential. An uncommon version has the same speed as Syd and may lose the advantage. (edited)

2nd pet is either:
- Unobtainable
- You have to buy one for IRL money / battlenet currency -> a lot of gold
(And if you CAN'T buy some pet on AH / the price is just HUGE, I don't see the point tbh...)
As much as i like the strategy and i would like to give it 5 out of 5, my argument above makes me want to give it 2 or 3 out of 5
So i will just not vote :P (edited)

The Lil' XT, which is the shop pet, is not currently attainable as they've removed it from the shop.
Landro's Lil' XT is a Trading Card Game pet that CAN be bought on the AH. It has the same move set, and almost the same stats.

It's your prerogative to make strats as you see fit, just as it's someone else's to make theirs as they'd like, and with what pets they like. There are 20 published strats for this fight. If someone can't find a strategy amongst those with the pets they have, then it's up to the person to expand their roster if they truly want to do the fight.

"A strat should be rated on how effective it is at beating the enemy, not based on your roster."
If you are not very good with pet battles / Can't afford the Shop Pet/"Unobtainable Pet"
-> Then you can not really use the strategy, can you? Means it is 0 effective to you.
And we should make strats friendly to "less advanced pet battlers" or am i wrong?
PS: When i am making strategies, i just want them to be friendly to as many people as possible, reason why making/testing some of them takes 5 hours... (without using pets rather hard to get)

Well, not gonna "argue with the moderator" :P
Personally when i see the strategy with Unobtainable Pets "ON TOP" i move on to the next one.
(I am also pretty sure that A LOT of people think/do the same)
I just downvoted my own strategy to make the new one with similiar pets, but imo as good/better, and the pets are more accessible...
...and then somebody voted 1 out of 5 without giving any arguments.
(so i guess i will vote on this strategy after all)

My XT took one Trample crit, in R5, and was rather low when I swapped it out. It could be that taking a Feed crit in R3 might be a problem, but you'd have to be very unlucky to suffer that 5 times in a row.

I know I can specify pets by "enemy(#3)" but for the sake of readability, I've been using "enemy(Otto)" instead. That doesn't work here: "enemy(Mr. Pointy)" throws a script error because of the period in the pet name. Is there a workaround for this, or do I just have to use "enemy(#2)" in this case.
