This one was working well.... up until today. So far it has lost five times in a row. That's more than just bad RNG!

It seems if a Fen Crab is the next in the lineup (especially a rare P/P one), it can devastate even your armored, healing Emerald Proto-whelp.

I was having the same issue - rare Fen Crab wrecked my EPW the first go-round. I tried again and played it super-safe using this script:

What this does is forces the battle to follow the strategy above up until the Felsworn Sentry is dead. Then, if it's still alive, your cricket will heal itself and attempt to get some hits in on the Fen Crab to weaken it a bit for your EPW. When your EPW comes in, it throws up Emerald Presence 1) before going into healing mode and 2) whenever the crab goes underwater (if it has Dive). Making sure to have Emerald Presence up at all times seems to be the key.

The first part worked, Red Cricket indeed took 2 hits from Fen Crab. But then, when Emerald Proto-Whelp PS 25 comes, nothing helps again:

Emerald Proto-Whelp is now your active pet.
[Emerald Presence] applied [Emerald Presence] to your Emerald Proto-Whelp.
[Claw] dealt 315 damage to your Emerald Proto-Whelp.
[Emerald Dream] applied [Emerald Dream] to your Emerald Proto-Whelp.
[Claw] dealt 480 damage to your Emerald Proto-Whelp (Critical).
Your Emerald Proto-Whelp died.

Still works as of today, the front two kills the Sentry with your Cricket having ~400 hp, even if it dies immediately EPW should be able to handle the two backline pets unless you get a really unlucky draw.

This strat used to work pretty well for me, but lately (13 times over the last 2 days, in fact) it has stopped working for me; literally. The Fen Crab that comes out second is all of a sudden doing huge crit hits, & you just can't keep your Proto-Whelp up long enough.

Another comp is Pandaren Water Spirit start use geyser, swap in Zandalari Anklerender, Black Claw then Hunting party = He is dead. Clean up remaining 2.

Thank you very much for your guide, it helped me defeat this frustrating pet. However, it was much better for me to skip the second Swarm and get straight to Skitter, otherwise Felsworn Sentry would kill my Voodoo Figurine.

You're right! The Sentry still kills the Voodoo Figurine in the back mostly, but that shouldn't matter. Skipping the second Swarm definitely works and is faster! Thank you :-)

Sehr gute Strategie, aber wie mein Vorgänger schrieb, it der smaragdgrüne Protowelpe zu schwach im Sinne von verliert Zuviel Leben. Stattdessen funktioniert hervorragend der magische Flusskrebs zum Schluss. Er hat die Rota 2-1-2 und damit kann man sich ständig wieder heilen und zwar langsam aber ganz gemütlich die restlichen pets besiegen.
