Most of the time the runt kills the sentry, but then the first moth obliterates idol. It worked for me replacing the leveling pet with emerald proto-whelp, but maybe it would work better with proto-whelp in the second slot. (edited)

Does not work at all, tried like 7-8 times. Runt kills Sentry almost always, but Anubisath is killed by first moth in 1-2 turns max (3 if Deflection is used).

Nice, Kun-Lai was able to kill Sentry on his own, then Anubistah killed the first moth and brought the 2nd moth down to throw 2 cages and the level pet took 1 hit and threw 2 cages and I won and got a new pet + xp.

Needs some modifications to work 100% of the time. Level 23 Rabbit will not finish off the last two.
