Not sure if it's different than yours, but for my pet breeds, this strategy was immensely RNG. My Hermit Crab is S/S, my Glimmershell Scuttler is B/B, and my Iron Starlette is P/B. Whether I used the Crab or Scuttler, I'd get a Pinch on Drakeula at best after taking down Arctichnid, and my Iron Starlette never once got to Yu'shor at all. Sometimes it'd die before I even got Drakeula into its Undead phase.
