Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
Staff Pick
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

I found an accidental enhancement! If you (accidently) start with Missile, THEN do bombing run, when you get to the Decoy step, you block his wind attack and you never get hits to your level pet.

9.0 Pre-patch: works fine

I think pet XP is broken. only 130 xp for a level 1 pet.

They've unlocked the tamers to be fought 24/7 and therefore reduced the experience to avoid clinging.

They don't want to make leveling pets easy or fun. Then we'd all be OP!

yadrig wrote on 2020-04-07 16:45:48

what they want you to do is find some other way to sink your time into the game obtaining pet charms and glued to WoW 24/7 so you can buy the level advancing tokens.

Alan wrote on 2019-03-20 16:28:53

Darkmoon Zeppelin dies and revives on turn four, whether the opponent crits or not. At turn five, the opponent has 319HP, and Bombing Run will not kill it unless you crit (doing 329 damage).

Geki wrote on 2019-04-08 11:40:29

If your Zep is dying that early then you've been getting crits, or forgot to heal before you began the fight.

Morti wrote on 2019-07-23 20:46:43

Eh, my zep died about then too - got off the bombing run behind the decoy but not another missile - fortunately the Nex was able to manage the rest

(OP) Lazey

wrote on 2019-07-24 10:08:38

Not sure, but did you read step 5 correctly? You only use Bombing Run if enemy HP is low enough to get killed by the direct damage.

Solitha

wrote on 2019-11-05 13:36:18

I just discovered it is possible to die/revive on turn 4 with no criticals against you. The zeppelin has 1546 health to begin.
Turn 1
Toxic Bite - 158 damage and Toxic Wound debuff - 1388 remaining
Turn 2
Rip - 158 damage and Bleeding debuff - 1230 remaining
Bleeding - 190 damage (buffed by Toxic Wound) - 1040 remaining
Turn 3
Bite - 317 damage - 723 remaining
Bleeding - 237 damage - 486 remaining
Turn 4
Bite - 396 damage - 90 remaining
Bleeding - 237 damage - Death, Failsafe

Edit: The elevated damage in turns 3 and 4 is probably from Lazy's Beast family buff. (edited)

(OP) Lazey

wrote on 2019-11-06 15:05:54

It would be nice to see where you think things go wrong without any incoming crits because death and failsafe is absolutely normal. This combat log is exactly what I experience myself and there's nothing wrong. As long as you get your Decoy out in round 4 and kill Lazy in round 5 with the proper skill I don't see a problem.

Solitha

Mot

Thanks, works fine!
But Cyclone can kill your leveler. You need 231 health for an aquatic leveler with one Cyclone crit hit. (Not much XP lost though, if the leveler dies ;)

Shamora

wrote on 2019-03-29 00:31:34

Yup, my Level 1 pet died. Strat could use an update to take into account Mot's advice!

Kranthos

wrote on 2019-10-08 14:32:35

Cyclone should normally be blocked by the Decoy from turn 4, in which case it wouldn't hit any of your pets including the leveller.

Pureheart wrote on 2018-11-20 13:13:21

Same team different order: Decoy, Missile Missile, Bombing Run under 300hp, Missile, Lazy dead. Spokes in. Missile until Zep is dead. Bring in leveling pet, then switch to NW. Tail sweep to kill Spokes. Skeeto in. Arcane Storm, Mana Surge, Tail Sweep if needed but usually not, Done.

Anon wrote on 2018-10-27 14:37:55

Way better to put the decoy down first. Zep lasts a LOT longer and does a significant amount of damage to the second enemy pet...

Geki wrote on 2018-10-28 10:50:58

Using cyclone at that exact time causes it to soak the second pet's cyclone aoe move, allowing even a level 1 pet to safely get experience. If you're levelling a higher one who can take some hits then you can do as you suggest.

Anon wrote on 2018-10-31 14:38:51

Well, yeah, I have been using it on higher level pets lately...

Kay

wrote on 2018-10-22 17:33:10

Cyclone killed a level 2 pet. Decoy was cast round 4. Not sure what went wrong, but I think my Zep died early at round 6 along with enemy pet #1. Round 7, Level 2 pet comes in with second enemy pet and swapped to Nexus to continue fight.

Cassindra wrote on 2018-10-14 04:39:46

I feel like you could decoy earlier to prevent one of the debuffs from Lazy being applied to your Zepplin. I still won the other way but Zepplin survives longer otherwise.

Poisodo wrote on 2018-10-07 13:11:59

This worked well! Thanks.

Zhol wrote on 2018-09-13 11:37:17

Don't know if this is new, but the second pet has a tornado ability that lasts 5 rounds and hits all team members. If he gets it off, your level 1 pet is dead, dead, dead...
