At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Today my Sky-Bo died a turn early against Spokes, meaning I didn't pass the turn it died, and the Sticky Grenade was a turn late to the Mana Surge Party and didn't detonate. Nexus Whelpling had the Dragonkin bonus when it killed Spokes and so didn't have it to one-shot Skeeto. However, I got a lucky crit and the Whelpling one-shot Skeeto without the Dragonkin bonus.

Even if I hadn't got lucky, Arcane Storm would have finished off Skeeto with the Dragonkin bonus, so no changes are necessary to the script. Even when things don't go as scripted, this strategy can't seem to go wrong.

I've never had this happen but it definitely requires investigation.
At first glance it looks like, in this scenario, a simple pass on the whelpling's first round would solve the issue.
That requires one line to be added to the top of the script (standby [ self(#2).active & round=6 ]), and one addendum to line 6 of the strat posted above (Sticky Grenade - if Sky-Bo dies here, pass your first round with Nether Whelpling)
I'll need to spend a while trying to figure out how it happened first, though.

I didn't have the P/P Nexus Whelpling, so instead of passing on round 2 with Spokes I used Flamethrower. The rest of the strat played out as indicated above. :)

My Nexus Whelp is a P/B.

As I told 3Wolves in a PM a few months ago, this is by far the most gratifying strat I've ever created, but it needs the P/P NW to be guaranteed. The maths is undeniable. It works every. single. time!
It's poetry!
3W only had the P/B as well, iirc. I told them to go back to Coldarra!
It's well worth it. =D

EVERYONE needs a P/P Nexus, and anyone who doesn't have (at least) one needs to BE in Coldarra until they do! :P

I'm not terribly concerned with breeds, honestly. I work with what I have. The Nexus Whelp was a pain to get in the first place, for me, so if I can't buy it it's probably not gonna happen. I have too many other things in game I'm working on.

So, why does the Sticky Grenade do 942 damage to Lazy instead of the 776 thee tooltip says it should do?

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2019-11-22 03:43:43

I'm assuming it's benefitting from a combination of Toxic Wound and the extra damage of it being a mechanical attack against a beast.

Berendain

wrote on 2019-11-22 06:31:52

So not only is sticky grenade considered a damage over time effect, but toxic bite is increasing the damage of dots dealt to AND BY the target?

(OP) Eekwibble

wrote on 2019-11-22 21:25:35

Toxic Bite definitely adds its 'bonus' damage to both pets on this battle. The tooltip says it adds 110 but that obviously gets rounded up in-game.
Flamethrower hits Lazy for a baseline 258 as normal.
The Flamethrower DoT should hit for a baseline 86 on Lazy but always hits for a baseline 197 (+111).
It gets quite messed up on Berendain's point. Sticky Grenade on Lazy hits for just over 1.5x Toxic Bite's 'bonus' damage (+166).
Then it gets really weird.
Sticky Grenade on Spokes - who was never a part of, or ever affiliated with, any part of the Toxic Bite Clan Mafia - always hits for a baseline 628 instead of 517 (+111).
All I can think is; if (/when, and it's alway on the 1st round) Toxic Bite is used against an opponent in this particular battle, the game mechanic is applied to both opponents and all their non-direct attacks (by which I mean; not necessarily just DoTs, because SG is not a DoT, it's a delayed attack), and lasts until both the player and the non-direct attack affected are completed or removed.
I have no idea at all if this applies to any other npc battle or ability, all I know is that I've crunched these numbers dozens of times and despite being completely baffled as to why it works, I just love watching it happen.
9 rounds.... and 2 of them are passes.... >.< (edited)

EDIT: This old comment is partially outdated – thorns and bombs are not DoT-s anymore.

What is considered a DoT by mechanics does not necessarily reflect the common sense. As far as I know there are 4 types of them.
Toxic Bite/Spray seem to operate within the main one, i.e. no proc can be blinded or dodged and each deals half of damage to aquatics. And indeed, except what one'd expect, all thorns as well as Sticky Grenade/Explosive Brew belong to this category. (edited)
