In this addition to the series of pet battle dungeons, we are revisiting the old home town of the Gnomes: Gnomeregan!

To start your journey through this dungeon, you need to be level 60. Head over to Radek Fuselock in Dazar’alors “Hall of Beasts” if you're Horde or Tizzy Gearjolt at Boralus’ “Ruff Waters” for Alliance players. The breadcrumb leads you directly to the instance entrance of Gnomeregan, where you will meet Micro Zoox who will offer you the instance quests, start the queue for it and also sell you pets related to the Gnomeregan dungeon!

Your first playthrough grants an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone, and following runs in the Challenge Mode (no healing) give the new currency Pristine Gizmo which is used to buy the following pets from Micro Zoox:

Mechantula Recipe
Mechanical Cockroach
Leper Rat
Alarm-O-Dog

Challenge Mode Achievement Pet: Mini Spider Tank
Xu-Fu can scan this section for the most suitable strategies according to your preferences and show the required pets.
The Regular option will allow using pets multiple times.
Heroic mode will use each pet only once due to the restriction of no healing.

My first time doing this, so I could heal and revive between fights, which makes it easier.

I see a lot of comments with peeps complaining that they followed the strats prfectly and still failed. The hing is, there really aren't solid strats on most of these fights (at least in the non-heroic version). It's a case of "bring this one exact pet and then the player gets the leeway of bringing what they want, within some not entirely narrow criteria. Not sure why some better strats can't be devised with solid three pet teams, rather than leaving most of the team building decisions up to the player.

That said, that said this was an interminably long set of fights. I made it through okay, losing a few, then winning on the rematches, but I won't be doing the heroic version of this anytime soon. Just too muhc of a timesink for very little in reward.

Despite following each strategy pefectly, I've been knocked out 6 times at varying points in the run so far without a single completion. Didn't realise there was so much RNG involved

Gráinne

There isn't, really, in Gnomer. There are a couple of strats that are close in Strath, but I don't think I ever failed anything in Gnomer.

I used to not have any issues, but I haven't done it in a WHILE. Went back in today, and kept failing all over the place, just as OP said. Maybe they buffed the pets here?

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-07-22 17:46:24

Well, I've just gone through it again, with my old teams, and 100% success with nothing notable happening.

I suppose it does depend on which strats you use. Have you poeted in the individual strats, with enough detail for someone to check it out?

yea there is some super rng here i lose every attempt with this strat to the living elementals

Gráinne

wrote on 2023-03-02 21:31:27

That's two (or three ) battles, and there are many strats available for each.

Which specific strats do you have a problem with, and where did the battle deviate from what the strat tells you to expect?

JerseyGrrrl wrote on 2022-09-06 19:25:04

Hi All. I've had a problem recently... I've done the 1st 3 dungeons with great success following your guide; I've done them with my mage. Micro Zoox has a great recipe my monk engineer would love to purchase but he won't show up when Manapoof teleports my monk there. Am I missing something? Thought as long as 1 of my alts runs the dungeons, any could. Hoping someone can let me in on the secret. Thanks in advance.

Gráinne

wrote on 2022-09-06 21:12:34

That sounds very strange,

I've just moved two of my characters to the mouth of the dungeon, one by Manapoof's teleport and one by running in from outside, and both of them see and can buy from Micro Zoox.

On what character CAN you see Micro Zoox? Do you by any chance have the characters on two different Battle, net accounts?

But there is a comment on Micro Zoox's Wowhead page ... umm is your Monk a Gnome?

"This NPC becomes phased and thus invisible if you try to find it while being in the middle of quest line for Heritage of Gnomeregan, i.e., on one of the quests described here: G.E.A.R. Up. Even abandoning the quest does not return you to the "normal" phase. The only way to see this NPC if you ever took one of the mentioned quests, is to finish the whole quest line, and then Micro Zoox becomes visible again."

JerseyGrrrl wrote on 2022-09-07 00:51:05

Aaaah! That heritage quest must be it! And yes, my monk is a gnome. TYVM!!! And yes, believe my monk is on that heritage quest. MZ is visible to my other 2 gnomes, 1 has done the heritage questline and the other hasn't even started it. So that ties in with your answer. (edited)

OK this is what I have learned as far as importing and accuracy as far as showing what pets are good for the battles and such . Always be logged out of the game completly before you import your or update your collection, and also be logged out before you choose either normal or herioc so that it will display the pets to use more accurately. trust me it works alot better. thankyou to Aranesh and everyone else that makes this site possible.

Has anyone
been able to get Trouble in Gnomeregan in 9.0.5? I have over 50 level 25 pets and multiple level 60's and I cannot get the quest.

JClay

You have to pick up the quest in Boralis Harbor, outside the building with all of the dogs running around inside. Without that quest, it does not let you do it.

Eastgrass wrote on 2020-09-05 09:53:21

Can we have the strategies based on more common pets, rather than "scooter the snail" a super rare pet from children's week which can actually be replaced by any other snail?

While I do not mind going through the list and swapping as required, it is counter intuitive.

Since we are importing it keeps prompting that we do not have that particular pet.

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2020-09-05 11:21:12

If you're going to the individual strats, there are little arrows at the bottom of the pet's boxes on the strategies that will allow you to page through alternatives for those pets (if they have any). Given that it's a snail, and Scooter, I'd recommend just grabbing the highest hp snail you have using similar moves.

Aranesh

wrote on 2020-09-05 12:58:45

What Dragons says :)
I'd also recommend to create an account and import your pet collection. That way, the page will check for the best strategy available that you have all required pets for.

Only problem I see with the crab/rabbit/forge strats is in challenge mode you cannot mend and some of the fights they do die. Even with 3 of each of them it will be difficult.

Khes

wrote on 2018-12-29 18:21:15

there are at least 6-7 of each of various breeds, shouldn't be that hard to get quite a few and mix in a few nukes

Saw a post on wowhead that said you could logout and onto an alt and then use bandages to heal pets between fights, then log back in on the dungeon runner, apparently you stay in the dungeon doing this, haven't tested it myself yet.

Kessyra

wrote on 2019-01-05 13:46:49

I'm not sure about logging out and in. I had to log out in the middle of the dungeon and when I came back I was at the beginning and needed to do all the fights again. This was in the regular mode dungeon.

Edit 11/18/2020: Not sure what I did before but definitly can log out and bandage and log back in without it porting to the beginning if you do it fast enough. (edited)

Remte

The whole point of crab and forge strats is to make them use their protective and healing abilities as efficiently as possible.

Sinvanor

wrote on 2020-07-27 19:20:19

Logging out to bandage them doesn't work. However it is a great option if you want to restart since you have to use a hearthstone to get out of dungeons, which is stupid.
So it's an awesome choice for resets.

Gráinne

wrote on 2020-07-28 01:00:19

Logging out to bandage works for me. I've used it often to evaluate strats. You do have to be reasonably fast though, not go level another pet you want to try. Just relog alt, bandage, and straight back.

I'd like to report an issue with the final boss Pulverizer Bot Mk 6001. The npc ID on this site is incorrect, so when you copy the code into Rematch, it will fail to load the team automatically when targeting the npc or starting the fight.

The code from this site begins with: Pulverizer Bot Mk 6001:4FV0
in which 4FV0 is the npc ID. This is incorrect, it should be 4EI4

To fix this manually, right-click the team and then select Change Name or Target.
on Target select: Noteworthy Targets > Gnomeregan > Pulverizer Bot Mk 6001

I got this info from the maker of Rematch on Curseforge where I first reported the issue, so credit goes to him (edited)

If the strats on this page can be used for the Challenge Mode too, why didn't you make a list of all pets used so we can put pets other than those in the fights with 'extra slots' ? I miss that, unless those strat aren't final, but it would save a lot of page viewing just to pinpoint those pets.

Some substitutes:
Tiny Shale Spider can replace a Shale Hatchling, or use a double of any other Shale Hatchling.
Silkbead Snail and Rusty Snail can replace any of the other snails, or use any snail you have double.
Emmigosa can be used instead of Azure Whelpling.
Golden/Silver Dragonhawk Hatchling can replace Red / Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling.
Withers can replace a Teldrassil Sproutling or Ruby Sapling.
Tainted Cockroach can be replaced with ~20 other cockroaches/beetles.

The "default" is different for each person, I believe, if they have imported their pets. It chooses what strat you have pets for or are closest. I've seen my suggested strats change as my pet collection grows.

Aranesh

wrote on 2019-01-15 06:04:10

Exactly what JestersTear wrote. That's why the "top" strategy doesn't exist anymore, it's different for every user. The tables I had previously don't work anymore with that new system and need a re-make.

Found a great tip on Wowhead forums for getting to entrance if you are Horde:

"If you're horde, the ideal, death-free way of getting to Micro Zoox is the following:
- go to Grom'gol Base Camp in Nothern Stranglethorn
- take the teleport into Gnomegeran
- create a costum group and instantly leave it (or join an existing group)
- wait a minute to get teleported out of the dungeon
You'll spawn right before the NPC! No deaths, no repair costs!"

Clewara

wrote on 2018-12-15 00:46:53

This is true and correct and so much better than trying to bumrush the guards and having to walk the gorillion miles back from the "nearest" graveyard.

Ways to get to Grom'gol faster:
* Manapoof teleport (from BofA or Dalaran) to Deadmines
* Dalaran teleporter to Karazhan
* Druid Dreamwalk to Duskwood
* Mage port to Stonard

Maelchon

wrote on 2018-12-18 06:41:37

Manapoof in Dalaran now offers to send you directly to Gnomeregan (may require you to have unlocked regular pet dungeon first?)

Gráinne

wrote on 2018-12-18 07:00:52

Yes, access to Manapoof's teleport is one of the rewards from completing Normal. So when you have completed it once, everything's fine. It's that first step ...

k0ders#1764

wrote on 2019-08-23 16:13:11

The fastest way to get to Grom'gol is to take the Zeppelin from Orgrimmar or Undercity.

Chanderjeet

wrote on 2019-08-02 16:56:14

One thing that would have come in REALLY handy at the top of this page is requirements ... spent about a half hour running all over the place looking for the quest giver because I had the ? on the map, only to find out that a level 103 is not high enough!

davebunz wrote on 2019-06-24 03:40:05

Hmm well I notice a lot of mechanical pets to battle, some undead, some beast, some critter, and some elemental. So go out and make sure you have a bunch of their respective pets to do the challenge mode
