  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Great strat with lots of alternatives, a couple of crits or Deep bite spam could end you early but generally well done!

Played with various levels of power in the Shadowlands PTR.
There is some RNG to Retch's moves though so there will be exceptions.

For the (357) P/P Emperor Crab the minimum was (276) S/S Coralback Fiddler only because it was faster. I don't have other breeds to check the 273-289 range (I think it would fail), and the next available power is 292.
For the (325) P/P Spirebound Crab the minimum was (292) H/H Fen Crab et al.
For the (289) H/P Strand Crab the minimum was (305) H/P Snarly if it surges just before it dies and it can still fail.
Lower power crabs don't seem to have enough throughput to work even with the 357 Rip users.

My Emperor crab (PP) solo'ed it, just refreshed shell shield and renewing mist and snap'ed him to death (edited)

It worked, but not as written -- H/H emperor crab and H/H kelp scuttler died before Retch did, and my aqua strider (picked at random) only barely managed to scrape by. Would recommend putting an aquatic pet with beast attacks (otters or crocodiles?) in the third slot to make sure you can mop up if the first two die.

Defo bring some decent backup. Chuck went 100->0 in two hits

I would suggest using another aquatic that has Blood in the Water in case your second crab gets wrecked before using Blood in the Water.

Crysladiel wrote on 2018-06-04 19:04:55

Skill says "always hits 1st if target is bleeding" hence "Rip" whitch causes bleeding but that is not working, or it didnt for me. Ended up adding another crab for 3rd slot is a better option here.

Prudentius

"Always hits if the target is Bleeding."
This means that the ability's chance to hit increases to 100%. I'm uncertain if this negates effects that lower your ability to hit, but in this case it's not a factor.

Darsh wrote on 2018-04-08 20:43:00

I used the fishing crocodiles (Chuck, Snarly, Muckbreath, and Toothy). Any three will work.

Rip, Blood in the Water on CD, Surge when you know Retch is about to kill your pet. Easy mode.

Love this Strat, worked first try. I kept Shell shield and renewing mist up. My emperor crab solo'd the fight. Breed PP

Joe wrote on 2017-12-04 22:15:38

Didn't work. Current strat is bad and needs to be changed.

Vij wrote on 2017-08-31 10:03:51

I kept Shell Shield and Renewing mist up instead, got Retch down to 25% and only needed Rip and Blood in the Water to finish him off.

Therabbit86ed wrote on 2017-12-04 22:10:24

This worked so much better

dgnuff wrote on 2017-09-11 23:43:05

Easy mode strategy. Use a P/P Emperor crab, refress shell shield when it has dropped, renewing misis a second time on the following turn, and the Emp crab has a good chance to solo it.

Adraxa wrote on 2017-10-28 14:34:56

This this this. Super easy if you just keep shell shield up. :D Great modification.

Sigyn wrote on 2017-10-02 07:34:05

Worked for me. Had to use a sifang otter as 3rd pet.

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-09-08 20:42:33

2 P/P Crabs with Blood in the Water, the 1st with Rip, the 2nd with Claw.

Rip > BitW > Rip until 1st Crab dies
BitW > Claw until Retch dies

8 rounds in total.

Eos wrote on 2017-09-17 18:53:59

This worked perfectly!
