Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Both the strategy and the script work for me without fail today (13.07.21) on EU. Here's to hoping the strat breaking bug got fixed. (?) I am using a BB Val"kyr and a PP Ape.

Seb

wrote on 2021-07-10 21:38:57

Constant fail with this strat at the moment. Not sure why apart from it'd due to PTR bug? Even deleted the original strat and re installed it.

Slow Moe is now surviving the second barrel toss doing 1738 damage (with P/P Ape, Roar, and Unholy Ascension buffs). The match is still winnable with an extra turn or two, but the change broke the script.

I didn't have a PP baby ape, so I made this, and so far it only fails on an unluck stun.

Doesn't work half the time (with B/B ape) and if it does, it's like 1min 30 sec. At this point you're better off just using the Xu-Fu strat. (edited)

This is the best strat for the Snowfeather hatchling fight if you have a Capt. Nibs He has all the same monkey abilities listed but is undead.

EDIT: Sorry for the confusion, for the regular WQ you want to stick with Baby Ape... I was specifically referring to the Snowfeather hatchling quest while leveling up to a mount where you need a party of 2 undead. Maybe I just got lucky because I had no problem using Nibs for that. (edited)

Gráinne

wrote on 2020-08-07 16:24:30

Oh, does Captain Nibs work? He has less power than the P/P Baby Ape, but more than the B/B Baby Ape. Unfortunately, the WQ is over here in EU now, so I can't check. He has only one breed, P/B, so if he does work, that would be useful information.

Nibs has the same power as False Knucklebump, which DragonsAfterDark says doesn't quite work the same, needs to add a bit. (edited)

Shenk

wrote on 2020-08-07 16:35:36

i tried it with nibs. it doesn't work as well because of the lower power and the missing beast racial. it can be done with nibs but it would take longer and also make the strat vulnerable to failure because of that

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2020-08-07 21:17:55

Yes, and the only reason the Knucklebump worked is because it has quite a bit more health than Nibs.

Gráinne

wrote on 2020-08-08 01:25:19

DOH! It wasn't over in Europe; I had just been looking on the character I already tested on.

OK, so now I see why Nibs and Knucklebump don't work cleanly. Because of the lower power, the Barrel Toss doesn't kill Slow Moe. Slow Moe's Headbutt may then stun you, further complicating life, but in any case will always need another hit. And of course that costs your Nibs a round of damage.

If using Nibs or Knucklebump, you would need to be sure your levelling pet is grown enough to take a hit or two and do 400-500 damage to Snot at the end.

Seb

wrote on 2020-08-07 14:53:06

About ~60 seconds... brilliant!

DragonsAfterDark

wrote on 2020-08-07 14:26:02

Added a power restriction instead of just toggling the breed, that way the alternatives don't show up as an option. Tested with both the alternatives, and as expected they did not work.

With a few extra moves I was able to sub in a False Knucklebump, but at that point it bumps the time up to just shy of a minute and a half.
