Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 5+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

If the RNGods are with you, on very rare occasions, a level 1 pet can survive, especially if it is a magic or mechanical. The cyclone is the only thing that will hit your backline level pet, and with the 35% chance for a hit, there is a very low chance that it will only hit your level pet once (letting a mechanical survive, magic can take two hits), and an EXTREMELY low chance that it will not hit at all. A nail-biting five rounds. This fight will take a level 1 up to 12 on a regular week. I bet it would be 13 with a sausage.

Or, y'know, just go with a higher level pet.

Xar wrote on 2021-05-22 11:53:30

I tried this out and I found that only 1 enemy had Cyclone, and he never even got a shot of it off most of the time! My level 1 took no damage.

Hello all!
I made a more simplified TdScript for Crysa. Please do let me know if you have issues and I'll work on fixing it! =)

Pet Order
Slot 1: Nexus Whelpling (P/P - 1/2/2)
Slot 2: Leveling Pet
Slot 3: Stormborne Whelpling (P/S - 1/2/2)

TDScript
change(#3) [self(#2).active & self(#2).played]

change(#2) [enemy(Buzz:1982).hp<=750 & self(#1).active & !self(#1).dead & !self(#2).played]

change(#2) [self(#1).active & self(#1).dead & !self(#2).played]

use(Arcane Storm:589)
use(Mana Surge:489)
use(Tail Sweep:122)

Happy hunting & Light be with you!

So, just did this today and came across a slight bump in the road. My first nexus whelpling, which is a P/P breed, just solo'd the whole fight, never swapping to the level pet thus it did not receive the XP. Any way to fix this in the script with a condition? This is probably a 1 in X chance of this happening or maybe need to use my P/B breed nexus instead in the future.

These scripts stops the first Nexus Whelpling from defeating Crysa before the levelling pet has been active. It will also make smarter decisions on what moves to use.

Oh, these scripts assume that the third enemy pet Buzz's Preen ability will heal for at least 300hp if it's used. The lowest I've seen it heal for is 306hp, but if it can heal for under 300hp, then there's an extremely small chance that the first Nexus Whelpling can win the battle before the levelling pet has been active. :p (edited)

Nether Faerie Dragon 2,2,1 and Void Jelly 2,2,2 allows for a level 1 pet to be brought in. Start with Faeire using Moonfire and nuke until it dies(do not use Life Exchange). 2nd pet comes in you cast Life Exchange. You need to adapt to the fight now because of rng. Basically bring out the jelly when 2nd pet uses the group whirlwind and purge it. Nuke the bird down. When last pet enters cast Barrier and bring in leveling pet. Bring in Faerie and Life Exchange as enemy pet beats down barrier. -- There can be some wonky RNG but it's somewhat rare. It's the only strat that allowed for a level 1 pet that worked somewhat reliably for me.

I used a lvl 5 beast (373 HP) and it was dead well before the last bird was dead.

BTW, is this once per account per day? I went there on another character for the 1st time and no quest.

Apologies, forgot to account for the first pet being dead, just did the fight again today with the above script and it switched to pet 2, then 3, and failed when pet 3 died, problem was I was already on the second pet yesterday when I changed the script to the above, this one works :) Added tail sweep, though it wont usually get to it.

I use a mechanical dragon on the last bird and explode around 520 health. Your level pet get the exp.

For a certain time, instead of the second Nexus Whelpling, I use an Arcane Eye (2/1/2). I find it a bit smoother, but don't treat is as an edict. :)

Works also with level 1 pets, at least all the times i'v checked.

Swoop can throw out a Cyclone that might take out a level 1.

try Scourged Whelp with Tail Sweep, Death and Decay and Plagued Blood
Clockwork Gnome with Metal Fist, Blitz and Build Turret
any third pet
Use Plagued Blood the tail sweep till dead
bring in Clockwork Gnome keep up turrets but just metal fist till the end

After several failed tries I conclude that Unkell's strategy is heavily RNG-reliant to ever be successful.

This strat is a lot more consistent than the #1 strat. Thank you

The Stormborn Whelpling (Drops from a rare in Stormheim) has the same abilities as the Nexus Whelpling, if you don't have two of them for this strategy.

Good point :) Added a note!

Kakjens wrote on 2016-11-07 10:18:59

Did you mean "Arcane Storm. Then Tail Sweep until Nexus Whelping dies."?

Sort of. Most of the time the first Nex dies just after it performs that Arcane Storm so it's irrelevant, but I can confirm that it isn't always the case (in example, opponent spamming Hawk Eye). Then of course you need to use your 1st tier ability :)
