Almost, but not quite. Nothing else has Skitter, Prowl, and Whirlpool, so you would have to do some adapting.

I can believe you might find a substitute that, with a little tweaking, would work. I would start looking with pets that have a move string against undead in the first slot, and Whirlpool. Barrier Hermit or Elusive Skimmer, for example.

But if you don't have the Chitterspine Deepstalker, there are also several other strategies on this page for use with other pets. You could look at one of them.

I just tried it, substituting a Level 24 P/S Barrier Hermit for the Chitter. Scratch instead of Skitter. I couldn't do Prowl, so just kept Scratching where Prowl was indicated.

I won, but it was close - but then I was using a level 24 instead of a 25. So at the end, I wasn't sure Gnaw wasn't going to kill Inky in the second last round, so I used Blinding Poison when I brought Inky in for the last time at the end, before using two Tentacle Slaps to finish.

Since I got this failing few times (by failing I mean my leveling pet didn't get xp) I thought about optimization. The failing happened 1 times from like 30. Then 2 -3 times almost at row in the next 10 fights.
Let me tell you what exactly didn't work - If by any reason Chitterspine leaves with too much HP after Crawdead, there is high chance for Gnaw to die due to crits (Whirlpool and Skitter) and the leveling pet to not be active at all.
So I start to take it out during Blinding poison buff - that's why it didn't get hit at all and the xp is guaranteed. Here is my scripty - any notes on it are welcome:
