Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

A simple but long strat, about 30 rounds. Suggested in a comment by Lorangriel https://www.wow-petguide.com/Comment/117761

The Deflection soaks both the Pump and the Whirlpool. The Humanoid racial heals up the little damage done by Frost Shock.

The Void-Scarred Anubisath will work equally well, and you can probably substitute many more pets with an avoidance you can use every 4th round, and some small heal.

At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Can shorten the fight substantially by using sandstorm on cooldown also. It does a lot more damage than crush and just takes the place of one of your crushes

I'm not sure how much Sandstorm shortens it, though. I could do the numbers, but basically you do get the bigger damage from Sandstorm, something like an extra 200 every 5 rounds?, remembering the the Boss buff loses half your damage, but you also then lose 70 damage from each Crush.

If you want faster, I'd throw a couple of high damage Flocks at it first.

Or maybe something like a Shimmering Aquafly with Alpha Strike, Healing Stream and Lift-Off to replace the Idol, with Healing Stream in case it's needed.

While I was out there, I tested this idea. With Sandstorm, it actually took me longer - 38 rounds. That's a result of the damping effect of Sandstorm, and the extra RNG of the miss chance.

You can shorten this by about 5 rounds with Garrlok, since Face Punch will always hit with a higher amount than Crush could ever manage with its highest damage roll, with Takedown hitting a mid-roll amount between the two Face Punches.

Oh, there are lots of ways to skin this cat! A Hexxer will solo him as well, probably in about half the rounds. I just thought this suggestion was worth promoting because it used the pet that almost everyone gets to 25 very early in their collection.

Using Anubisath solely didn't work for me. However a team with

Anubisath Idol 1*1
Sharptalon Hatchling 121
Direbeak Hatchling 111 (might have been better with the ironskin)

This worked very well for me and I 1 shot legendary Flow.
Use crush and deflect as indicated

Bring in the Sharptalon
Rip
Falcosaur Swarm
Sharptalon dies

Bring in Direbeak
Falcosaur Swarm
Predatory Strike

Flow (Legendary) dies

Please tell me HOW using the Idol alone didn't work for you.

Basically, the Idol finishes at or very near full health.

If you use Deflection on the right round, the only damage the Idol takes is from the Frost Shocks, and that is less than the heal the Idol gets over 4 rounds, so arithmetically, I can't see how it could fail unless you're using Deflection at the wrong time.

Of course, you could use a couple of Bleed-n'-Stampede pets such as you list before the Idol to do a lot of damage fast, so long as you are careful to use Deflection on the right round - the round Whirlpool is going to hit - once you bring the Idol in. (edited)

Only way it wouldn't work is if they used deflection wrong.. Just did this first try with my idol, never went under 1600HP

Thank you!

I do not and will not use that addon, so I haven't tested it, but what you wrote makes sense to me, so I have inserted it above.
