Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Definitely a brutal pet battle given the limited opportunity to damage Shadeflicker. Therefore burst and carefully planned blocks are key. I used Sky-Bo, Draenei Micro Defender, and Darkmoon Zeppelin. Worked 5/5 times in testing.

Start with Sky Bo. Pass
Darkmoon Zeppelin is forced in.
Decoy
Pass
Missile
Missile
Explode
Bring in Sky Bo. Pass.
Draenei Micro Defender is forced in.
Pass.
Shield Block.
Metal Fist.
Explode (after failsafe)
Sky Bo enters.
Decoy. (Sky Bo dies but failsafe kicks in).
Screeching Gears.
Should be a win!

Thank you! Worked perfectly.

GnuclearGnome wrote on 2017-09-06 00:23:24

Worked perfectly for me also. :) One thing though, Tsoonami. It is helpful if you put which abilities should be picked when you list the three pets. Like: Sky-Bo (2/1/2) , Draenei Micro Defender (1/2/1), and Darkmoon Zeppelin (1/2/2). This saves folks from having to search through your strategy trying to glean which abilities you used out of it. But still, great strat! :)

Shashos wrote on 2017-09-06 01:52:57

Didn't have double Zeps, so I tried this one. Worked perfectly! Thank you.

Sella wrote on 2017-09-06 07:30:14

This worked fantastically! Thank you so much!

Elesack wrote on 2017-09-06 22:20:43

This is only strat. that worked for me - however, I had to change it up a bit at the end due to RNG and being swapped out not as described. Still a no-sweat method!

Nelaphim wrote on 2017-09-07 22:02:45

Lacking double Zeps and no S/S Cogblade, this worked great.

Kif wrote on 2017-09-09 06:27:04

Perfect, 1st time, thanks

Maizou wrote on 2017-09-10 17:02:42

For me, I had to change something:

When you bring in the Draenei Micro Defender, instead of Shield Block > Metal Fist, do:

Metal Fist
THEN Shield Block
Metal Fist Again
Explode

After that, it worked fine.

Zarria wrote on 2017-10-05 16:54:41

After trying 4 other combos over 45 minutes, this worked on first try. Thank you very much!

Hagmilk wrote on 2017-10-15 18:07:05

This should be #1 strat. Worked first try. Don't need special spec or rng.

Well this strategy did it for me but it still wasn't easy. It took multiple attempts since I kept getting 3 shotted. In the end I only won since I got lucky with the screeching gears stun, giving me the extra shot i needed to finish him off.

Hannah wrote on 2017-09-08 12:47:07

This Worked for me first try using s/s Cogblade with Batter, Screech and Exposed Wounds;
Likelike Mechanical Frostboar with Missile, Rebuild, Decoy, and Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling with Breath, Bombing Run, Decoy.
I actually messed up and threw out my one and only Bombing Run and 2 turns later he dodged it...didn't matter i still one.
Started with Cogblade using Batter. Get swapped to Frostboar use Decoy and Missile until you next get swapped. Into MPD use Decoy then Bombing Run, then Breath until swapped. Back into Cogblade. Batter until *almost dead* then Screech. Killed in swap, Frostboar comes in for Decoy and Missile or two and boss is dead.

TK wrote on 2017-09-08 21:42:54

Stunning. First try here too. Well done!

Adeliza wrote on 2017-09-09 10:19:29

BEAR wrote on 2017-09-10 10:08:09

Replaced Frostboar with Darkmoon Zep, also have Decoy and Missile.
Thanks!

Fluffyrock wrote on 2017-09-06 09:07:48

I managed to kill Shadeflicker with the Pets suggested above but figured a S/S Cogblade Raptor(2-2-1) would be the better option. So I quickly tested it and found it to be a lot better than with an Iron Starlette.

Start with the Raptor and use Batter before being swapped out.
Use Decoy, Pass one turn, then use Bombing Run and keep spamming Missile until you're swapped out against your 2nd Zeppelin. Rinse and repeat.
Your Raptor is swapped in and should finish Shadeflicker with another Batter.

Enjoy!

Tormentia-Kul Tiras wrote on 2017-09-06 14:09:48

Cogblade, Zep and Sky-Bo worked for me., with Cogblade and Sky-Bo being the S/S breeds. Like you, I started with Batter. Whole progression was:

Round 1: Batter, Zep was swapped in
Round 2: Decoy
Round 3: Pass
Round 4: Bombing Run
Round 5: Missile
Round 6: Missile
Round 7: Pass, Sky-Bo gets swapped in
Round 8: Decoy
Round 9: Pass
Round 10: Sticky Grenade
Round 11: Screeching Gears
Round 12: Sticky Grenade
Round 13: Sky-Bo dies, rezzes, Cogblade Raptor is swapped in
Round 14: Batter (he got off 3 hits)
Round 15: Exposed Wounds
Round 16: Batter, Shadeflicker died

I suspect that this strat is entirely breed dependent, and without the 2 S/S pets it probably won't work.

FlibbitSC wrote on 2017-09-06 22:26:04

Correct - Using an S/S Sky-Bo and an S/B Cogblade is not enough, tried 4 times. The problem was that Sky-Bo was not dying on turn 13, and however I advanced to the next step (adding one more attack or manually swapping) threw off the strategy vs. Shadeflicker's rotation. Thanks for the strategy though, figured it was worth the effort! =)

Lilyoptra wrote on 2017-09-07 21:46:55

Did have the 2 in S/S breeds and the strat worked great ty!

Vermivora wrote on 2017-09-08 02:30:56

I do not have two S/S breeds. I tried anyway with a S/S Cogblade and a P/P SKy-Bo. Worked the first try!

Dakini wrote on 2017-09-10 03:41:16

Tatahe wrote on 2017-09-05 19:17:34

Strat is not working... Looks like some turns are missing...

Fysm wrote on 2017-09-07 10:50:14

It works with those pets but not with the script described above. I did it with Iron Starlette, Darkmoon Zeppelin and MiniZep. Just use your abilities, get out some decoys and win.

Simca wrote on 2017-09-05 14:25:47

This is a particularly brutal fight, as the enemy pet will constantly swap your pets out in addition to having 328 Speed. The extremely high speed means he will usually always go first, and his Dodge move will last 2 rounds. Between Dodge and Void Gate, that means you can damage the opponent roughly twice out of every six rounds of battle.

If you don't have the pets for the rather awkward double Zeppelin strategy above, I recommend incorporating very high speed pets and trying something else. I had success with an S/S Cogblade Raptor, whose 341 Speed stat limited the Dodge to 1 round and could get out an extra attack against Void Gate.

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-09-05 15:51:23

Yes, this is a rather awkward strategy. The Mac'Aree fights are all using the Void Gate, and many of them are really brutal. I'm hoping for some crowd intelligence to fill the gaps of strategies here :-)

Pure Armour wrote on 2017-09-07 02:09:57

i think i posted this strat on another page by mistake ... but i believe this would be an improvement on the double zep strat ...

i tried this strat several times and was successful every time .... i used a Darkmoon Zep 1, 1, 2 2nd slot Alarm-o-Bot 1, 1, 2 and a 2nd Darkmoon Zep
