I wanted to try getting XP for some pets, so I put Ikky in slot 3. I started by Passing on first round, and taking damage with my second pet, then switched to Ikky and still won. If Ikky is in my first slot, other pets don't seem to get XP.

Decent strat, but Ikky died before it could deliver the coup de grâce (extra necessary attack after Flock) so I had to finish off Enyobon with one of my backline pets.

Probably just a smidge of bad luck (as Ikky suffered a couple of crits during his fight). (edited)

I can confirm this happened to me. Enyobon was on Death's door, though, so it was no problem with the next Level 25 pet I had on the team.

Any pet with Black Claw and one of those 3 attack runs can beat this guy. Works perfectly if you are getting the pet battle achievement. I used a Chitterspine Skitterling with BC/Swarm and it took out this guy.

I used Ikky. He soloed Enyobon but my level 10 pet, who never tapped Enyobon, leveled up? Is this because Ikky died during the last turn?

Yes, If your other Level 25 pet(s) die and a low level pet comes in, it scoops the XP for the battle. This mechanism is much used in Explode strats and others where your second pet deliberately kills itself, leaving the XP for your third pet. Example: Link

In such a case, your level pet is technically in at the end ofthe last round, which qualifies it for XP.

Also often happens in https://www.wow-petguide.com/Strategy/10092/Mega_Bite where Ikky dies at the same time as jawbone.

However, there isn't much XP in DF battles, so generally people don't bother. (edited)
