I also agree that using Deflection using the Anubisath Idol vs Quilino part is fairly critical to consistent success. If you Deflection his second Spectral Spine, you put his hit chance for his Spectral Strike at 40%,. If the strategy was actually fleshed out for that section into a proper move order (instead of a rough priority), it could take advantage of this fact and enable this strategy to be even more consistent.
With both changes, the strategy actually works most of the time (which isn't even close to true before).

If the spirit guide don't crit you to hard (happened on 2/5 attempts), the Grell will have no problem surviving until the sprit round, (one time he even survived 2 rounds of Quillino!)
The Grell can be a bit hard to come by though, but if you have it, it works quite well here :)
I had some serious trouble with my Runt dying to Fethyr though. So I switched to Father Winter's Helper and it was much easier.
