Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

My Infernal Pyreclaw is an H/B breed and solo'd this. Other breeds may vary, hence the Rabbit to come in and clean up what the Pyreclaw doesn't kill.

Low XP
Breed
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Great strat!

Just because I put a level pet in it :P I've found a lot of the times they die at the same time giving free xp but in case it doesn't I swap it in and out to rabbit (Put level pet in slot 2 and rabbit in slot 3):

change(#3) [self(#2).active]
ability(Dodge:312) [enemy.aura(Undead:242).exists]
ability(Great Sting:1966)
ability(Cleave:1273)
ability(Flurry:360)
change(next)

Wow, Pyreclaw soloed the other team :O.

A small tweak to this strat is using an Unborn Val'kyr with Unholy Ascension. Basically start the fight with the unborn cast unholy then switch to pyreclaw. Her unholy ascension increases the damge the entire enemy team takes for 9 rounds by 25%.

Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling soloed this fight easily. Breath, Thunderbolt, and Decoy on cooldown.

A small change can get you some XP for a leveling pet while doing this (XP is about the same as a normal pet battle; nothing special).

Leveling pet in space 3. When the Pyreclaw dies, swap leveling pet in, then swap to rabbit. With no cleaves around and this being an easy fight, your leveling pet will get a bump.

Palathos wrote on 2020-02-19 09:55:14

How low level can the leveling pet be?

Kurasu#2861

wrote on 2020-04-17 06:34:37

Any level at all. There are no cleaves, so your leveling pet will take 0 damage throughout the battle.

This should be the go to fight my HB Pyreclaw solos the fight everytime, have never had to use rabbit

TexasAggie94 wrote on 2019-07-01 21:55:33

Weebomination with a cleave and a rabbit with flurry and dodge took care of this. Did not use a third slot pet.

On my unkth run through seeking Fras and the damned letter I used S/B, just for variety. It died a little early, but any pet could have cleaned up the little that was left.

It's important to not use "random" pet slots in the dungeons. Depending on the size of your collection (or bad luck) you may kill a pet needed later if you mess up.

+1 Insightful :)

I hadn't thought of that before, This is a real problem. I can imagine it happening to someone, especially, as you say, someone with a restricted roster.

Of course, if someone slots the pets manually, they will know what they don't want damaged. But people who just copy Rematch strings without looking, or checking, could run into this.

Here's the problem: Rematch doesn't have a code for "Random pet that you don't intend to use before you can heal again." :)

I don't see a solution. Ultimately, it's up to the user to do even that little bit of thinking. At least they probably won't get caught by it twice!

Shenk

wrote on 2019-06-28 08:26:06

since surviving pets usually are on really low hp a cleave pet as 2nd might be a good idea. in case actually two pets survive the pyreclaw you could finish them both at once

Pyreclaw solo'd this during the normal run, in challenge it got to 3 health left on a Lost Soul. :|
