Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 4+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

This strategy does not fail with a level 8+ leveling pet. I use a 2000xp training stone on any level 1 pet I am going to use. Brings it to level 8 (this is during pet week)

riotus#1682

wrote on 2020-10-16 03:14:02

NOte : your levelling pet needs to be at least lvl 8 to ensure it wont die. Level 4 is a HUGE RNG gamble, i levelled a pet from 4-8 as it died every single fight until it was level 8. Only if you are very very lucky a level 4 can survive. Please change to 8+ so it does not mislead people.

Agreed. This strat works almost every time but level pet needs to be at least 8 to not die from Tyri's Omnislash cleave in my experience.

Since Darkness can cause you to miss enough where Tyri can stun MPD and sometimes Puzzle has enough hp to survive the Ghostly Bite or if a second Darkness cast causes you to miss with Ghostly Bite entirely. Still never had this team fail.

Tatahe

wrote on 2018-08-12 15:18:54

I think Puzzle HP needs to be under 1218 to get killed by Bite, not 1110

Tatahe

wrote on 2018-08-12 22:14:12

With a P/H Skull you need 1218 or less HP to kill it with Bite. Probably H/H requires 1110 and H/B something between those numbers. You can edit your script depending on what breed you own.

100% efficient and fast pets leveling

Not sure what happend (Blizz changed it in Legion??) but it used to give almost 0 exp from daily Menagerie and now u get 1-17 lev in 1 battle :O (when event is up)

Should be number 1 strategy :)

i.e. for bonestorm use ability 1, then 2, then 3

Snarky wrote on 2017-09-10 05:33:05

Absolutely love this. It's fast and flawless and should be No. 1. strategy here.

Viima wrote on 2017-12-24 06:00:28

This is about 5 seconds faster than the pandaren dragonling + ghostly skull tactic, plus this works with L1 pets, so this definitely deserves the front page position.

MolsonofAle wrote on 2017-12-01 02:33:22

Great Strat, great for leveling pets. Thank you.
I did however use shadow slash first before ghostly bite if Puzzle was above 1110. It saves a round for the stun from ghostly bite. If ghostly bite crits above 1110 doesn't really matter. But if you are leveling multiple pets one less round makes it go a little faster and adds up on time saved. Mind you I was about 25 battles in before I thought about it. Guess I passed one time too many :-).
Thanks again. Helped me to finally get the 30 something pets I had at level 23 to 25 finally.

Gatekus wrote on 2017-10-17 11:45:22

Thank you so much for. Posting this! With the recent 200% XP for Pet Battles, I was able to level multiple pets I thought would never get above level 6. I simply don't have time! As it was, wishing two fights (about four minutes), it was possible to level a single pet from 5 or 6 to 25!

The lowest level pet I was able to successfully level with this strategy was a level 2 Mr. Grubbs (Beast). However, there was zero margin for RNG, and he finished the fight with only 4/229 health! The first time I tried it, Mr. Grubbs died. Tyri's attacks are weak versus Beasts. I was unable to level any other pet types below level 5. RNG with Tyri's Call Darkness occasionally causes MPD's Breathe to miss, and low level pets cannot sustain another 1-3 rounds of Tyri's attacks.

Tie wrote on 2017-10-16 12:09:34

Went to my level 3 managerie in my garrison during a pet battle week and using safari hat plus a pet treat. Gained 10 levels at a time. Only problem is when leveling you have to have a pet the can withstand at least 3 of Tyri's aoe's. I have found that sometimes he only gets it on twice... but most of the time its 3 times before he dies. Either that or you level pet be a mechanical that can revive. But not an undead cus they eventually die anyway.

Schioel wrote on 2017-01-20 00:20:25

Super easy and can use level 1 pets (Tyri dies before she does the AOE damage every time). Tested several times tonight while spam leveling up some pets with ease.

Fjord Worg Pup (2/2/2)
Ghostly Skull (1/1/1)
Any Level 1+ Pet

Turn 1 Dazzling Dance
Turn 2 Howl
Turn 3+ Spam Flurry until Deebs Dies
Tyri comes in.
If Worg is above 325 health, Flurry FIRST then howl
Otherwise Howl right away, then worg dies.
Swap to Ghostly Skull
Turn 1 Ghostly Bite
Tyri dies, Puzzle comes in
Turn 1 Swap to Level Pet
Turn 2 Swap back to Skull

This works out awesome, except for the few times when Darkness causes a miss and therefore your pets start dying. Most of the time it's easier to just restart unless you can get lucky with a Shadow Slash still killing Tyri. I found this strategy even easier and faster than the linked one above, so it should be its own tab imo :)

I used Alpine Foxling Kit with same abilities and this script:

change(#2) [self(#1).dead]
change(#3) [enemy(#2).dead & !self(#3).played]

ability(Dazzling Dance:366) [!self.aura(Dazzling Dance:365).exists]
ability(Howl:362) [enemy(#1).active]
ability(Howl:362) [enemy(Tyri:1401).active & self.hp < 325]
ability(Flurry:360)

ability(Ghostly Bite:654)
ability(Shadow Slash:210)

standby

HOW TO LEVEL UP YOUR PETS (AND YOUR ALT)

Patch 7.2- still able to level 1+ pet in this battle!! (repeatable)

and pet battle event is up!! which means level 1-25 in two battles

if you are reading this post today, it means you can level endless amounts of pets needed for patch 7.2 scenario or whatever (as long as Deebs, Tyri and Puzzleis daily battle)

PS: bring character below level 110 for extra experience (11800 per battle for your alt- which means around 70 battles for one level)

tactic in the post below made by OJ- Enchanted Broom 2/2/2 Boneshard 2/2/2

Enjoy!

I keep seeing that you can level to 25 in 2 battles. It takes more for me. I'm assuming that means fully buffed with Safari Hat and the pet treats? I'm using Safari Hat but not the treats and it takes 3 battles for me.

Sarth wrote on 2017-05-20 11:33:57

2 battles only using the hat. You get 300% from the event + 10% of the hat, maybe you don`t even need the hat, if any pet dings 1-17 in one battle,, they get to 25 on the next, and the leveling pet MUST be the only one in the team, the others arre for carry.
