I made this because I don't like the RNG factor (I know it's small, but still) that Sandstorm gives.
Please do take note that the Iron Starlette I have is a H/P breed, as such YMMV if you attempt this with other breeds.

-My thanks to Shamora and Fuddle in the comments for testing this on other breeds. Can confirm that this can work on all Iron Starlette breeds, but for H/H you may need to do an extra Powerball or two to finish the fight.

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 1+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Correction, doesn't always work. On multiple occasions my Iron Starlette died leaving about 80% health on the last pet, which I couldn't kill with my level pet.PS Ash'ana, PS Starlette. (edited)

This strategy worked for me after the pre-patch.

thebl4ckd0g wrote on 2019-04-11 13:36:42

Running this strat for the 2nd time around, and it's still fairly hit or miss in RNG.

For this step:

Swap to Level Pet
Turn 6
Swap to Ash'ana

Once I swapped to Ash'ana, Rawly killed me (I had like 24 hp?).

I followed exactly as your steps list, so not sure what else is going on. My Ash'ana is Rare Power + Speed with 1400 HP, so that might be why. My level pet was a level 11 Giant Sewer Rat with 672 hp at the time.

wrote on 2018-12-12 19:55:50

This should be added as a new alternative strategy, but note there is something odd about the TD Script. The Darkmoon Zeppelin went right to Explode for me when I switched it into the fight. Not sure why and I didn't try to fix it, I just redid fight and did Zeppelin part manually and the strategy worked perfectly in the 8.1 release.

Shenk

wrote on 2019-01-01 11:03:20

because there is a typo in the zeppelin part
ability(Explode:282) [enemy.hpp<618]
should be this
ability(Explode:282) [enemy.hp<618]
the original script uses explode whenever the enemy is below 618% health, instead of 618 points

Mot

wrote on 2018-12-08 10:10:46

Better:

Use a speedy Bonkers instead of Ash’ana.

Prio for enemy #1:
Dodge when Sandstorm is off CD, otherwise Tornado Punch > Bite.

The leveler swap and the rest of the strat similar as described above.
With a bit of luck you don’t even have to bring in the Starlette.

Geki wrote on 2018-12-25 15:51:02

No point to the tornado punch, they're all critters so they can't be stunned and bite gets a damage bonus so its damage is equal to tornado punch.

You’re right of course. Thanks for the hint.

This fight after the 8.1 patch on Dec 11, 2018 only provides 178 XP for a levelling pet with the safari hat equipped. It used to provide considerably more before the patch.

Nikapo wrote on 2018-12-12 20:07:29

confirmed, I only got 206 XP for a level 8 pet with a safari hat equipped :(

rivera9 wrote on 2018-12-12 21:32:12

PositiveRoleMod

wrote on 2018-12-12 22:43:40

Well, looks like this is a intentional change. EVERY pet battle in BFA has had the experience lowered to this low amount due to every trainer being able to be fought multiple times in succession regardless if the WQ for that trainer is up in order for people to do the new Family Pet Battle achievement at their leisure. /sigh So now we have to go do old content once again to level new pets if you don't want to spend all of your pet charms on levelling stones.

Gaviin wrote on 2018-12-12 21:25:32

They seem to have updated the first enemy pet to have Mudslide instead of Sandstorm. Between that and XP being nerfed to hell, probably changes the primary strat on this one (though this one is pretty quick and easy still).

Lorianth#1672

wrote on 2018-10-18 22:33:09

With an H/P Starlette, I was frequently dying and either winning in the mechanical resurrection round, or relying on my leveling pet to finish. I modified the strat slightly to fit my needs, which results in less downtime, and more ending health on my Starlette. (Can probably be cleaned up a bit, first script ever. :3)

change(#2) [ self(Ash'ana:1927).dead & !self(#2).played ]
ability(Moonfire:595) [ round=1 ]
quit [ enemy(#1).hp.full ]
ability(Screech:357) [ self.hp>231 & enemy.speed.fast ]
ability(Powerball:566) [ enemy.hp<200 ]
ability(Supercharge:208) [ enemy.hp>893 & self.aura(Wind-Up:458).exists ]
ability(Powerball:566) [ self.ability(#3).duration=2 ]
ability(Pounce:535)
ability(Wind-Up:459)

My first time doing this battle, and Ash'ana survives to Screech and Pounce. Thanks to your alternate planning, everything went smoothly and my P/P Iron Starlette finished the fight with no problems.

MolsonofAle wrote on 2018-09-05 12:26:53

Had the same issue as Didi. Used a Honey Bee for my lvl pet and used lift off instead of swapping right back. This changed the timing on the burrow to when I was doing supercharge. Worked fine. Had used this strat before and knew it worked so wasn't paying close attention the first time he burrowed and had to redo the fight. Could probably just use a powerball when he burrows and save the second wind up for next round.

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-09-05 13:41:46

Extending this reply to Didi too. I kept running the strat until I could replicate what happened to you, but everything went accordingly for the most part. I did come across a very rare scenario on my 9th run, I think, where Ash'ana survived until Turn 8, where Iron Starlette is suppose to come in. This gives Rawley an extra turn which is just enough for Burrow to go on cooldown, but since Ash'ana survived for that long, Rawley was left with less than half hp, just enough to die from Wind-up without Supercharge. In the end, the fight was still won, but I can see it going south somehow. I think it's an instance that happens very rarely enough that there's no need to change the strat to account for it. I appreciate the feedback though! <3

(OP) Lyseria

wrote on 2018-09-05 13:50:30

Btw, it looks like the tdScript does take this scenario into account! Good job and many thanks to Eekwibble!

I'll include some notes in the strat to account for this as well.

Didi wrote on 2018-09-09 15:40:21

The quest was back up today, Asha'ana was able to screech but not pounce so the strat worked as above. Thanks!

Comanu wrote on 2018-09-09 13:37:32

Didi wrote on 2018-09-05 12:05:01

I've used this strat several times now, but today I've encountered Rawley burrowing at the 2nd wind-up (turn 11). Bad RNG or did the game change something?

I have also tried this before, but today Rawley does burrowing on turn 11. Tested it about 10 times and he did burrowing on every 11th turn

Hi ModestyPooh, thanks for the feedback. I just ran the strat 4 times and it worked in all 4. Can you relay to me step by step how exactly it goes for you? For me, Rawly uses Burrow in Turn 5 of the strat, then continues in Turn 6 to hit Ash'ana and then starts 4 round cooldown. We then use Screech or Pounce here, but most of the time Ash'ana dies. We then bring in Iron Starlette with 3 rounds still left on Burrow's cooldown - just enough to Wind-up -> Supercharge -> Wind-up for the kill.

If your Ash'anah survives long enough to pull off Screech and Pounce on Rawly, you can then skip the Supercharge turn and just straigh up go for Wind-up, as stated in Turn 10.

Another great speedy strat, Lyseria, nice one and thanks.

My TDScript will take into account whether Ash'ana can survive beyond Rawly's Rip to land a Pounce after a Screech or if just Pounce is the way to go (the former will happen if Burrow hits for 412 or less and there have been no crits up to that point). It will also save time by ignoring Supercharge if that Screech/Pounce combo landed and ignore Powerball if Supercharge is not on cooldown.

Great strategy. P/P Starlette didn't even have to resurect.
