Replaced the first pet with a Rapana Whelk (Shell Shield-Dive-Ooze Touch) that finished off Ash, then continued with this strat. Got some lucky RNG but worked out great!

There are certain breeds that are faster than the enemy pet. If so, then you wouldn't pass so you can put in an extra hit.

I've adjusted the strat to not include anything with an attack lower than 270.... which is probably why your HH or a HS won't work. Thanks for the helpful note!
