Hunts for food just below the water's surface on the coast of Darkshore.
Source
Shimmershell Snails are easy to capture on the beach at low level in southern Darkshore. They are the most popular breed of the various snails because of their stat distribution and breed availability. The Shimmershell, and the Mudshell Conch are the only two snails that offer the best available mix of Health and Power for the snail moveset.

PvE
Snails are used especially against Elementals for their resistance to Elemental damage. They have one avoidance move, Dive - which is strong against Elementals - and a choice of extra damage with Acidic Goo or damage reduction with Shell Shield.

The most common use of Snails is Acidic Goo for the 3 rounds of damage increase, followed by Dive either immediately or timed to avoid an opponent's attack, with Ooze Touch for spamming damage otherwise.

In battles where they face opponents with multi-hits, the damage reduction of Shell Shield may be more useful than Acidic Goo.

Absorb may sometimes be taken when survival is required, and that is usually also accompanied by Shell Shield. Headbutt is rarely used - perhaps against other Critters, but it comes at the cost of losing the Dive avoidance option.
