I believe the sim is not taking into account the damage that the backline takes while Rock Martin is using peck. The strat should just swap it out immediately after using nocturnal strike.

For pet 1 there is no backline damage while using Peck. As for pet 2, it uses all of its abilities randomly, and yes, the sim does take backline damage into account. Run the sim, and click on the various iterations and it gives you a blow-by-blow for the fight. I am literally looking at it in a separate window as I type this, and it shows the backline taking 147 damage each from Magma Wave.

Swap outs generally come with more risk than leaving a pet in to die, especially against enemies that do not have a static order they use their moves in, they have high power stats, and big hit abilities.

Swapping the rock martin out after using nocturnal strike on tempe, is far more reliable. The backline takes too much damage from the repeated waves, then gets one shot by dustie.

HOLY COW. Didn't have the Copperback, so I swapped in a Shadowbarb Hatchling (122) hoping to cover the gap, but my SS Rock Martin damn near soloed the whole fight. I must have skated any crits, because I managed to get a Blinding Poison, Nocturnal Strike, and Peck on Dustie before swapping out to Wild Etherwyrn and finishing things with Surge of Power.

Didn't have Etherwyrms. Thanks to Foxpaw0 on Wowhead for suggestion last pet and moves. Rock Martin SS 1/1/1 Blue Flitter SS 1/2/2 played to their strengths, Kor'thik Swarmling */1/1 Amber Prison then Takedown. Tried two other strategies. This worked first time.

Admittedly the Fruit Hunter needs a little RNG. (2,1,2) Start with Nocturnal Strike--restart if you miss. You want to save the Rain Dance in order to heal and gain a round.

Why switch? The Rock Martin can nearly solo the whole battle and no time difference. Any two pets afterward with arcane damage will do great. Higher the heath the better because your backline will take some damage. Mana Surge and a good dose of Surge of Power should do the trick. (edited)
