Any Level 1+ Pet
|
*For those overly-dedicated leveling pet strategy enthusiasts like myself, here's a 2 pet strat I've used for years. I thought I'd share as I couldn't find any leveling strats. for this fight on Xu-Fu currently!
Credit for this strategy goes to Chrosta from WoWhead. Please see the information below to go check out Chrosta's in-depth WoWhead post regarding all things Garrison Pet Menagerie! Link Leveling Pet: Safe for ANY Level 1+ Pet; it will take 0 damage **Please feel free to leave suggested TDScripts below as I’ve no idea how to properly create them myself. Thanks and enjoy! UPDATE: Added script based off of glowcloud's in the comments! Thank you! |

With a P/B Pyreclaw: 10 rounds, 1:12 battle.
With an S/B Pyreclaw: 12 rounds, 1:22 battle. With an H/B Pyreclaw: 12 rounds, 1:22 battle. It might look weird using Great Sting when it's already active, but it extends the higher damage version and gets it off cooldown sooner. This strategy kills off the backline without them being active. |

I tried this because I accidently entered combat with these pets and decided to give it a try instead of forfeiting.
Any pet with black claw and hunting party/stampede would probably work in the second slot. You could probably switch in lots of different pets in the last slot too. |

Because of Stench the end time is inconsistent. It's actually a little shorter than 1:30 if you don't miss.
I imagine it's possible to fail if you get real bad RNG. |

RNG can derail anything, and especially with the Stench debuff from Sloppus, I can see how a really unlucky run could have the Nexus Whelpling fail to repeated misses - though you would then still have your third pet to finish it off.
But I'm not seeing how this strat could fail more than occasionally.
If anyone has a log of what happened, that would go a long way to convincing people. You can make a log by screenshotting your Pet Combat Log or with the addon Pet Battle Log Keeper and after the battle do /pblk and click Save Battle.

I have done over 10 fights to test it and the results are more or less like this:
You can fail to kill Mr. Terrible as he can heal himself (so far happened twice). Because of this it requires an extra Water Jet and derails your further strategy. This RNG aspect is too high compared to chance of rolling minimum dmg few times in a row when it matters.
You fail pretty much always to kill Carroteye as he requires 2 Water Jet and due to low hp you have to finish it with your Nexus. This sometimes leads to its death and the need to use your 3rd pet.
All of this can be avoided by simple adding Cleansing Rain in 2nd turn.
Here is an example combat log i got from last test fight:
[Pet Battle]: Spring Strider is now your active pet.
[Pet Battle]: Mr. Terrible is now enemy active pet.
[Pet Battle]: Round 1
[Pet Battle]: [Pump] applied [Pumped Up] to your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: [Weakening Blow] dealt 361 damage to your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: Round 2
[Pet Battle]: [Pumped Up] fades from your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: [Pump] dealt 980 damage to enemy Mr. Terrible (Strong).
[Pet Battle]: [Weakening Blow] dealt 361 damage to your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: Round 3
[Pet Battle]: [Pump] applied [Pumped Up] to your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: [Weakening Blow] dealt 541 damage to your Spring Strider (Critical).
[Pet Battle]: Round 4
[Pet Battle]: [Love Potion] healed 289 damage from enemy Mr. Terrible.
[Pet Battle]: [Water Jet] dealt 653 damage to enemy Mr. Terrible (Critical).
[Pet Battle]: Enemy Mr. Terrible died.
[Pet Battle]: Round 4
[Pet Battle]: Carroteye is now enemy active pet.
[Pet Battle]: Round 5
[Pet Battle]: [Pumped Up] fades from your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: [Pump] dealt 980 damage to enemy Carroteye (Strong).
[Pet Battle]: [Quicksand] dealt 444 damage to your Spring Strider.
[Pet Battle]: Your Spring Strider died.
[Pet Battle]: [Quicksand] applied [Quicksand] to your team.
[Pet Battle]: Round 5
[Pet Battle]: Nexus Whelpling is now your active pet.

Now we can check things out. :)
As Remte notes, breeds are a suspect.
The first thing I note is that a H/S Spring Strider has quite low power, 244, as compared to my P/S Eternal, which has 273. So it will do ~89% of the damage.
My Pump does 1087, so yours will do 971.
My Pump-empowered Water Jet does 483, so yours will do 430.
In total, with those two hits, the P/S will do 974+483=1454 damage.
Mr. Terrible has 1156HP, and can heal for an extra 25%, making a worst case of 1445 (but if he also does a Spiked Skin, saving himself 72? can that happen?) nvm for now. Assuming that can't happen a P/S Eternal will always kill Mr. Terrible on schedule.
The H/S Spring will do 1401 damage, which will not be enough to kill Mr. Terrible if he heals.
So we could say it is indeed a breed issue, or a Power issue if you prefer.
Your variant on the strat also looks good to me. Maybe Remte or one of the other content mods could have a look and decide whether the update is warranted?

When i started i though B/B was a good breed and not something you should avoid at all cost :)
I decided to go do my pet achievements and rework my random teams. For a month now i am redoing them, adding notes, making sure i use as easy to get pets that can be used in many fights, etc. I can share what i got if someone is interested.
I based most of it on the strategies that are already available here as it is indeed too much time consuming to work out things yourself from nothing. Rather use something pre-existing and fix/modify/simplify it. :)
Found out so many strats that simply didn't work at all, were too RNG depended, required not so easy to get pets, or in some cases too complicated (like 15 rows of explanation when it can be summed into a 4 rows spell priority list). You can safely assume those are not so outdated starts, judging by the comments below, but rather breed issues. And no one has the time or pet roster to try out every possible combo.

You could also join the Discord and chat in there. I know the content mods are keen to fix any errors and find new strats.

If you create a user profile here, you can upload your roster automatically and people will be able to check it out for themselves. Also, when looking at strats, the compatible pets you have will be automatically shown on the pet window. There really is no downside to creating a profile.

Desa, if you are reworking your breeds, check out this survey of what breeds battlers prefer to collect
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/pet-breed-survey-2019/20349
and for the beginner battler with fewer species, this page
https://wow-petguide.com/index.php?m=MostUsedPets
tells you the most used pets in strategies, and I have added a comment showing the best breeds to go for.
