Then you might get another attack when his strategy requires him to swap his pet back in. And you get another free attack at some point when your Magma Trap stuns the enemy pet. This strategy works very well if your opponent uses slower pets. It is based around using Retrieve to force a different pet from your opponent to join the battle and not only destroying his strategy by this, but also getting a free attack on his pet if your Blazehound is faster (since the swap happens after your attack and your opponent loses his turn. Then you might get another attack when his strategy requires him to swap his pet back in. And you get another free attack at some point when your Magma Trap stuns the enemy pet.
If you are constantly running into fast enemy teams then this strategy will not work as well. Be aware that there are 3 different speed versions of Blazehound.

In 2025 this still works great. Very toxic indeed. Im using Lil' Ragnaros (1/1/2) as 3rd pet as i don't have 3 pets with Photosynthesis and Sunlight combo.

If you're fighting against human, you won't kill them, you just have to outlive them until they s urrender. Even if this strat isn't the best, it's pretty fun to see the enemy give up on your team :)

I didn't use this team, however I did play against it. It was VERY irritating to play against lol but it certainly worked for my opponent! I went against the same person a couple times with them using this strat and only managed to beat them when I brought in a pet to change the weather and even then it was terribly close. (edited)

It wasn't me, and I don't know why they came across it or rated it, but the

Sunlight->Photosynthesis->Swap->Photosynthesis->Swap

method is the one and only strat that I will buckle down to beat, and will then make a mission of chasing through the queue to beat again and again until I don't see it any more.

It is, sadly, effective - in annoying everyone in the queue that day. Since it typically leads to extremely long matchups - an hour or more isn't unheard of - its most common effect is to waste everyone's time.

However, it is allowed by the game, and we must "play to the whistle", so it should be represented here, and you were right to include it. And it is a strategy of last resort that had a legitimate place, for example, during the reign of Graves and the Evul Undead back in 6.3. And I suppose I can't begrudge the option to beginners who are struggling with Brawler.

For those unlucky enough to face a team like this, changing the weather is key. Cleansing Rain + Aquatic damage destroys Sunny Day teams fast. A Jademist Dancer, for example, is an ideal counter.

- The strategy has you assume the villain role, one must be comfortable with this.
- Part of its effectiveness lies in its frustration
- Hate the game, not the player
- Changing the weather asap is the biggest weakness of the strategy, as mentioned in the guide!
