The strategy works with either a P/P Long-Eared Owl or a Fledgling Warden Owl, but the Long-Eared Owl's slightly higher health makes the strategy safer. The script will automatically switch to the variant I've posted in the comments if your level pet has enough health. Inspired by a strategy by Salty Goldfish that unfortunately stopped working due to Shadowlands changes. |

I have also removed the Staff Pick (because of my intervention on the strat), and reset the ratings. I have tried to keep the essence of the strat by not changing slot #1. That said, I will be marking this as RNG, because if Stormlash kills Hogs with a crit before his second Stampede, it's unlikely you'll be able to finish this fight. |

this is my flavor on this strat. the originator is hard to determine. it is not 100%... there is a little RNG here but after 3 weeks of use (if i imported it right) i have only had to reset 1 time due to the loss of one of the pets

No notable crits. Hogs killed the cricket on cue, but was killed in R8 after just two rounds of its Stampede, before killing Stormlash. This was not our Shattered Defenses not doing its damage, but Hogs taking more damage than expected.
Was that the cricket's Swarm doing some extra damage because it finished all three rounds, or Call Lighning doing more damage? I don't recall hearing about a Call Lightning change, and I don't see one here Link so I'm guessing it's the Swarm.
In any case, it seems like this strat, as written, has been borked by the Shadowlands updates.

Another scenario would be skipping Healing Flame after a strong Lift-Off. Strong as in "brought Whiskers below 50%". This would activate the +50% damage buff from the Dragonkin passive and would cause Tail Sweep to connect to a lethal hit - even without a critical strike (at least for the P/P breed - I have/had no data for the other ones).

The basic idea is to switch in the Level Pet after Whiskers drops to ~30% HP or lower because that's where the AI will use Survival: It is supposed to be a "safe turn" for level 1 pets.
IF the damage from Lift-Off and Tail Sweep fail to hit this threshold, Whiskers will continue with Surge and hit the Level Pet. Reasons for this can be the RNG involved in Lift-Off and the attack stat/breed of your dragon. As for Spawn of Onyxia: P/P has yet to fail me, and both P/B and P/S should work most of the time (bear in mind we are talking about blue quality pets).
My guess is that your whelpling is one of the latter two breeds. One solution would be to extend the above sequence with a second Tail Sweep in case Whiskers' HP are too high. This will expose your whelpling to Whiskers' Dive after switching though, so you might have to start over if Dive kills it. Starting over would be the second solution anyway. The long term solution would be training a P/P Spawn of Onyxia.

But yes, putting Vicious Slice before Stampede is an alternative. Even 2x Vicious Slice plus one round of Stampede could work; same goes for 3x Vicious Slice iirc (but you want the debuff up after Turn 2 in case Hogs dies in Turn 3 due to crits). My sole reason for submitting it like this is because you can go afk on Turn 2 and 3. ;)
