I couldn't get this strat to work because my penguin kept getting swapped out right before Dead Deckhand Leonard went down. Ended up going to wowhead and finding a different strategy that worked first time.

Commenter Wizzierules11 on the quest page for this tamer suggested a black claw/swarm strategy using Chitterspine Skitterling (x,2,2) and Fleeting Frog (x, x, 2) with some random aquatic pet for backup, though they never said whether it was used or not.

Personally, I didn't end up needing the 3rd pet (which was a Puddle Terror), as my S/S Skitterling and S/B Frog using swarm were more than enough, though crits can change things as always.

Dead Deckhand Leonard used to use Sweep rarely or never. Recently, though, when sending characters out to this one, I've noticed he uses it much more often - even on the first move.

I wonder whether Blizzard's original script for this one was bugged, so that he almost never used Sweep, and now they've fixed it.

This strat is pure shit, forgive my french. Besides the swaps, it's also so much rng involved. Chitterspine Skitterling (x,2,2) and Penguin killed first 2 quite fast and then a frog killed the last. So much more efficient!

Didn't get the purpose of this strat the first couple of fails through. You want to make sure you have chill going forward another 2-3 rounds after your penguin dies and you need the sunlight to give your strider enough of a healing boost to survive 400-500 point hits from the tentacle. Works a lot better once you get the necessity of those two elements.

I've been grinding attemps for a solid 45 minutes and it's never happened, so I don't know if I'm getting really lucky or if he only uses it post-turn 5.
