Indeed Anubisath Idol worked better for me as his Sandstorm went absolutely violent, Crush as filler and Deflection when Old Blue's Whirlpool is at 1 round left

I used Anubisath Idol in second slot, 211, keep up sandstorm and then deflection when whirlpool is on 1, fill with demolish. didnt need 3rd pet

I just used Crush instead of Demolish after trying this with 4 misses in a row. 40% hit chance ain't enough. But otherwise, works fine. (edited)

Hmm. When I see an unhelpful comment like that, with no details about what might have gone wrong, I don't tend to pay it much heed. But I go check it out if I have time and am in the mood.

So I tried, with an S/S Flayer Youngling.

In the battle, there were no crits at all, which is unusual. Nice, but unusual. Murray killed my Flayer early, in Round 8, with his first attack. That left me wondering.

I carried on with the battle, bringing in my Harpy early, and following the strat with Flyby and repeated Slicing Winds.

The Harpy finished the battle without any need for my third pet.

Looking at the stats available for the Flayer, I suspect that S/S may be the breed most affected. Fungus' speed is 236, so every Flayer breed is faster, which is good for the Kick and the Blitzes, so the speed of the S/S gives no advantage, while it comes up short of other breeds in both Health and Power.

Of course, as always, crits can mess with the results as well, if you are unlucky, regardless of breed.

So I'd add a note of caution about the S/S, but the ultimate point is that even though the strat went off-course at that point, I could still win the battle even without the third pet, so I'd say it's solid enough. I'm not sure what implication that might have for scripts, though.

This strat works well, and I never needed my third pet any of the times I ran it. For reference, my Flayer is a P/P, and my Harpy is a B/B.

I've added a script to the fight. :)
