If you use Onyxian Whelpling and use Lift-Off on round 6, it will stay alive longer and do more damage. In a lot of cases, you don't even need Chrominius. In most others, you don't need to use Howl.

I passed this script through the sim tool 100 times (10,000 battles) for each breed of NFD, and in every single case, with any breed of NFD except S/B, achieved a 100% success rate. S/B success rate was 99.97%. But, then again, S/B is, and always has been, the worst breed of NFD to own.

Tossing in an Ancient Blessing and an Ironskin with my Ironbound Proto-Whelp to Swog down to 167 health, no need for a Howl Bomb.

Lil Deathwing did just as well if not better than Ironbound. Pet 1 and 2 got Swog down to 50HP with an easy clean up from Chrominius.

Wish Xu-Fu's would do a better job of showing a completed guide with alternative pets

That is pretty ungrateful! For some pets there are so many alternatives it's hard to make a list that includes all. That's why it's always good to scan the comments on each strat to see if there are other alternatives.

You know, my words werent anywhere CLOSE to being sharp. It was honest criticism for the site and maybe for the guide writer.

A lot of pets bleed into the same category. I managed to do this with Lil Deathwing who has the same move set as Ironbound Proto-Whelp (who I didnt have). A tool to automatically to include similar pets should be easy to implement from Xu-Fu's.

I dont know how any of what I said is "ungrateful". Im 1000% grateful of this sites existence, its a huge boon for the battle pet community. Ignorance is not bliss though to the improvements and optimizations for the process.

Since I made my comment, 30 drakes were added too! Clearly my feedback helped someone improve the guide.

It is not easy - in fact, it not even possible - to address all possible substitutions, separating successful from unsuccessful attempts, using only simple rules based on single-pet stats. I could cite double-Explode strats as an easy to understand case where the possible substitutions depend on the SUM of the health pools. There are many more subtle cases.

Kelimi contributed a great, simple, strat, using easy to get pets. Excellent! Worth 5 stars. Possibly the original formulation did not allow for all the possible substitutions. I guess that from your statement that new substitutions are now shown that weren't there earlier. And so, yes, if that is the case, your first sentence may have instigated an improvement to the strategy.

Since the WQ happens to be up, I took a look for myself. Yes, it works great. I didn't math it out, but I tried with both an S/S and a P/P NFD (because the the effect of speed on the initial Life Exchange) and the lowest-power Tail Sweep pet I had (Jeweled Ruby Whelpling), and I see no signs of RNG.

This worked great for me on the first try. I subbed a Stormborne Whelpling for the Ironbound Proto-Drake. I didn't even have to use Chrominius' Howl + Surge of Power because Swog only had 69hp by the time Chrominius came out; it only needed 1 use of Bite to finish the match.
