Out of all the strats thats posted this one worked for me. Dragonflight. I would still say it's RNG. I switched out the void scar for the normal anub idol because i haven't leveled the void ones yet.

Does the Anklerender has more HP as P/S pet? Tried with Kneebiter and it's usually killed by the spirit.

Kneebiter and Anklerender P/S breed both have 1237 health at level 25. I tried swapping in the Kneebiter as suggested below and still lost to the Cursed Spirit.

If you are like me and have a S/S Anklerender you can sub in Chrominius instead of Anubisath and use Howl>Surge to finish off the spirit. My team below:

Just wanted to drop a comment to add support for what the others have said... if you have the S/S anklerender, this will fail horribly. He cannot kill the spirit, unless you have the loa of rng working some kind of unknown voodoo behind the scenes. I tried it many times and was never able to get it to work, until I swapped for my P/S kneebiter.

Use a P/P Anklerender and you shouldn't need the Primal Cry.

In this order, this strat ONLY works with a P/P. No other breed has enough base power to pull it off without some positive crit rng, Primal Cry or no Primal Cry. You can TRY and use Primal Cry at the end, but I assure you, it will not hit him. You'll be dead first.
A P/S breed using Pri Cry as an opener can get him down to 67hp without crits. Granted, you only need one crit in the right place, but it's still an rng issue.
However (drumroll...), if you use Pri Cry on Turn 2; VOILA! He's dead!

For P/S is idd like you said, Turn 1 - Black Claw; Turn 2 - Primal Cry; Turn 3-4 - Hunting Party, and its enough to get the first fight done, you will pop the undead racial and then you die at the same time.

Required and necessary mean the same thing, you don't need to have them written next to each other. I would just remove the 'required and'. It's not a major issue, but it's tidier.
