interesting post
Agreed! Brilliant!
Toenail wrote today on: Wildfire - Rare
i tried a combo of Mallard Duckling, Pilot, and Sandkeep as they all had aquatic & elemental attacks. Mallard soloed wildfire on Rare. the team also could be used for the skitterers. In hindsight i should have tried legendary and epic first, then tried more skitterers. i will have to try it on alts.
Also works with BB Dibbler. Just left 1 HP to cleanup with Drill Charge on final round.
I used the Brilliant Spore with 1400 hp, and it worked fine.
Thank you for letting me know; it's been updated. ^^
Another fast master strat.

PET NEWS - BY DRAGONSAFTERDARK
2023-03-07 15:49:11
A chill creeps through the timestream, and the howling of the undead scourge echoes through the Caverns of Time. The Bronze dragons have once again called upon the heroes of Azeroth to battle the Infinite Dragonflight and help preserve the timeline. This time we're being sent to Northrend to battle the forces and allies of the Lich King. Though there aren't any pets to be found from the WotLK Timewalking dungeons, there are some pets that can drop during this event.

1 Vendor: Auzin

For 150 Timewarped Badges, you can purchase the Bag of Fishing Treasures from Auzin in Dalaran. This bag has a chance to drop the Strand Crawler.

2 Ulduar Timewalking

The Ulduar raid in Storm Peaks is available for LFR Timewalking, and has a few pets that drop from the bosses.

These pets count toward the Raiding with Leashes IV: Wrath of the Lick King achievement.

2.1 Ignis the Furnace Master

Drop: Red-Hot Coal - Magma Rageling

2.2 Razorscale

Drop: Ironbound Collar - Ironbound Proto-Whelp

2.3 The Assembly of Iron

Drop: Stormforged Rune - Runeforged Servitor

2.4 Auriaya

Drop: Glittering Ball of Yarn - Sanctum Cub

2.5 Hodir

Drop: Ominous Pile of Snow - Winter Rageling

2.6 Freya

Drop: Blessed Seed - Snaplasher

2.7 Mimiron

Drop: Overcomplicated Controller - G0-R41-0N Ultratonk

2.8 Yogg-Saron

Drop: Wriggling Darkness - Creeping Tentacle

And those are all the pets connected to Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking!

Best of luck to you all on your drops, and happy battling!

PET NEWS - BY DRAGONSAFTERDARK

The time has come, once again, to level all your pets!

The weekly reset brings the pet battle bonus week, and The Sign of the Critter offers a 100% increase on pet experience, so it's the perfect time to tackle that queue.

1 Repeatable Tamers

If you'd like to know what repeatable trainers to look out for this week, head over to our Powerleveling Guide to find out which ones are great for maximizing the use of the bonus xp. It will also offer the top leveling strategies for each of the fights, tips & tricks, and links to non-repeatable tamers as well as other useful guides.

Our widget on the home page will let you know which repeatable Legion tamers are up for the day!

Also, keep an eye out for strategies that have the Level tags for regular, non-repeatable fights. Every little bit counts!

2 Saturday the 4th Super Squirt for North American Realms!

Super Squirt is one of those magical days during pet battle bonus week where Squirt is up in your WoD garrison menagerie, and it offers a useful, repeatable battle that does very well in leveling your pets, and has a nearby free heal. Here's where you can find all our Squirt Strats.

Though much emphasis is placed on Super Squirt, there are plenty of viable leveling fights from the repeatable tamers listed in the Powerleveling Guide. If you don't have your garrison up to par for Squirt, you'll likely still get a fair few tamers that will do nicely in Squirt's stead.

We wish you the best of luck in leveling your pets, and hope you have a happy battling week!

PET NEWS - BY DRAGONSAFTERDARK
2023-02-15 03:48:45
You are not prepared...for Burning Crusade Timewalking Week!

The Bronze Dragonflight is once again calling on the heroes of Azeroth to help repair the timestreams, and prevent catastrophic changes from happening. Of course, that doesn’t mean we can’t collect a few pets along the way!

1 Timewalking Vendor

It may not seem obvious at a glance, but the Burning Crusade timewalking vendor does sell pets, or rather the chance for pets to drop. When you visit Cupri in the middle of Shattrath on the second floor of the Terrace of Light, you’ll see she has Bag of Fishing Treasure for 150 Timewarped Badges. This bag has the chance for four adorable baby crocolisks to drop:

  • Chuck
  • Muckbreath
  • Snarly
  • Toothy

Now, if you’re looking to save your Timewarped Badges for other items, these pets can still be collected in two other ways: the auction house, and a fishing daily from the Burning Crusade expansion.

If you also want to keep your gold in pocket, you can park an alt next to Old Man Barlo and keep an eye out for the daily quest: Crocolisks in the City. Old Man Barlo can be found northeast of Shattrath at the Slimyr Lake in Terrokar Forest, at the coordinates 38.6, 12.8 . As far as can be seen, this is the only daily of his five that contains the crocolisks as part of the loot table.

2 Dungeon Drop

Of course, the timewalking pets don’t stop there!

The heroic dungeon Magisters’ Terrace also has a chance for the Phoenix Hatchling pet to drop from Kael’thas Sunstrider.

3 Raid Drops

And the Black Temple timewalking raid will also drop pets from all their respective bosses:

  • High Warlord Naj'entus -- Leviathan Hatchling

  • Supremus -- Abyssius

  • Reliquary of the Lost -- Fragment of Anger, Fragment of Desire, or the Fragment of Suffering

  • Mother Shahraz -- Sister of Temptation

As a lovely little bonus, all the raid pets count toward the pet collection achievement – Raiding with Leashes III : Drinkin’ from the Sunwell, which rewards the non-battling pet K’ute.

Every pet listed above—aside from K’ute—is also cageable. So, if you don't want to add a duplicate to your collection you can put them up on your Auction House, or gift them to a friend in need. It’s entirely up to you!

We hope your timewalking adventures are successful, and happy pet battling to you all!

Hello All,
I seem to have run into a problem with Magpie website. My browsers list Magpie as "unsecure" and say the certificate has expired. Does anyone else have this notice?
Thanks

Update; Thanks for the reply and all the hard work. If not for this website and all the info it provides I probably would not be doing any pet battles. Thanks once again.

Yes, I see the same. Looking at the cert, it expired yesterday. I have flagged it in the DIscord, and I'm sure Aranesh will fix it.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't let that stop you using Magpie. There is no confidential information being exchanged, and nothing that is prone to malicious use. Anyway, the SSL still holds; it's just that it's dur for renewal.

I am having trouble with what teams show up when using the "Rematch" feature on Xu-Fu when finding out what teams to use. For example, when pulling up Stratholme suggested teams it suggest a team that is further down the list and low rated by community. When the top rated team for that specific battle has like 100+ likes and I even have all the pets for at 25 its not suggesting it when clicking the rematch for the whole dungeon. It just suggest the latter (Even one of the pets suggested is one I don't have max level). I can of course just go to that specific fight in the list and just find the best team suggestion, but it'd be super helpful to have that best team already suggested in the FULL list for the entire dungeon. In my Xu-Fu settings, I have, "Script, Level, Breed, Staff Pick, Fast, Long, & Shop" in Preferred and everything else in Unfavored. Am I doing something wrong or am I just overlooking something? D:

Gráinne

wrote on 2023-02-25 19:38:29

Why do you have "Long" and "Shop" in preferred? It will then favour long strategies using shop pets.

I don't know which battle within Stratholme you're talking about, so I can't check.

My preferences are

Preferred: Staff Pick, Fast, Level
Neutral: TCG, Breed, Shop, Script
Unfavoured: RNG, Long, Tricky, Unobtainable

Now, that might not be the ideal choice for everyone. I can certainly imagine some people Unfavouring Breed, Shop, and TCG, and/or Favouring Script.

But if you try it again with those preferences, you might get a better selection.

Is there any way to automatically blacklist pets from another team in that group so it doesn't use it in "random pet" slots from other teams in that group? Hope it is understandable english is not my first language. I'm asking here because idk if there is a general chat forum, if so let me know.

Gráinne

wrote on 2023-02-20 20:50:06

I *think* you are thinking of Rematch, and dungeons.

Your question would be: is there a way to tell Rematch not to fill an "Any Pet" slot with a pet that will be used elsewhere in the dungeon. Is that right?

If so, the answer is no. When Rematch sees an "Any Pet" string, it does use a random pet.

What I have done in cases where the strat uses "Any Pet" is to import the team into Rematch and then manually fill the "Any Pet" slot with a pet of my choice.

If I have misunderstood your question, please clarify.

Gráinne

Are you getting any actual errors with tdBattlePetScript Rematch, or is it just saying out of date? Because if it's working and you are not getting errors, I wouldn't worry about it.

Mot

wrote on 2022-11-08 16:23:45

tdBattlePetScript Rematch works fine for me.

@Shadow11, Blizz's "Outdated" check is a fake check, as it just reads a number in the addon's index file (toc). That is, if my addon is completely incompatible with a new game version because of API changes, I can make it "updated" for Blizz' check by just updating that number, even if the addon crashes your game, freezes your computer and drinks your beer.

Many addons that haven't seen updates for months or even years are still 100% compatible. Maybe they are truly abandoned (and still work or not), or maybe the author just decided to not waste his time with toc updates, if the addon is not affected by the last patch changes.

Mutanis

Hey, yes there is!
If you go here https://www.wow-petguide.com/Profile/Collection you'll see a blue "Export to Excel" button. Download the sheet, open it in Excel (or google sheets or whichever you prefer) and you'll have a much more detailled list of all pets. It has the ownership percentages included in one of the columns towards the right and you can sort/filter to your liking.

Fair warning though, this percentage is only taking collections into account that are present here on Xu-Fu's, that means mostly people who are into pet battles. The numbers across all WoW are likely much lower.

I think the XP tables (the tooltip XP tables on the strats) need an update. I noticed this already a while ago on another occasion, and currently I’m leveling with Sir Galveston (pet Battles Bonus Event week), and I can definitely level a level-1 pet to 25 in two goes with just the Safari Hat on.

According to your table I would have to add a Lesser Pet Trait in order to accomplish in two turns.

With only Safari Hat it goes 1 --> 17 and then 17 --> 25. Not, as suggested, 17 --> 24.

As said, I think this is not only a Pet-Battle-Week-thingy, the tables seem to be slightly off in general.

Here some results from a Draenor round-trip today (all with Sign of the Critter and Safari Hat):

[The “XP” are the gained experience points according to the log.]

Ashley: 1 --> 19 with 13485 XP; table is correct
Vesharr: 1 --> 17 with 11238 XP; table is correct
Teralune: 17 --> 25 with 12647 XP; table says: 17 --> 24 with 13098 XP
Tarr the Terrible: 17 --> 25 with 12647 XP; table says: 17 --> 24 with 13098 XP
Gargra: 13 --> 23 with 14493 XP; table is correct
Cymre Brightblade: 1 --> 17 with 11238 XP; table is correct

Summary:

Your tables are correct for the low-level (1; Ashley, Vesharr, Cymre) and mid-level (13; Gargra) range. But in the high-mid range (17; Teralune and Tarr) it seems Blizz has lowered the XP requirements (i.e., you gain more levels with less XP).

This would also be coherent with what I’ve seen yesterday with the Sir Galveston grind.

BTW: This was on different toon than yesterday; so, unfortunately, no Dark Iron Dwarf bonus racial ;-)

That is not as simple as it sounds. In some cases, a strat may specify one or more breeds, like P/S and S/S but in many others will specify absolute stats, like Speed > 305. And then there are substitutes ...

While I love that list, and consult it often when deciding on missing assorted pets, it's from 2019. Many new pets, new fights, new reasons to have other breeds of old pets. Still chuckle at the idea few would be interested. My husband won't bother catching a wild pet until I've discussed how I've used it recently-ish, and what the percentages are of the breeds on the list. This included the Silithid Hatchling, during the darn sandstorm! Would be awesome if this was a regular updated survey, or something. Probably difficult, getting the top battlers to update such a thing per new expansion, and then compile it though.

Gráinne

wrote on 2021-11-22 18:20:06

Ugh. I did start to update it for 2021. I never finished. So sad that so many of the Old Reliables have gone, or at least are not getting new pets. I should get back to it tho.

You can look at the ratio of breeds among users of Xu-Fu in the new Pet Statistics, but I wouldn't trust those, I'm afraid. The 2019 Survey has Fiendish Imp at S/S(76%),P/S(13%),P/B(11%), which is sane, while the Statistics show that among Xu-Fu users the numbers are S/S(37%),P/S(32%),P/B(31%) https://www.wow-petguide.com/Pet/71033/Fiendish_Imp/Stats and the vast superiority of the S/S doesn't show up at all.

One problem, though, is that so many of the new pets just don't matter for battling. I've largely stopped caring about Deathroach-ish breeds myself.

Rysana

wrote on 2021-11-23 11:31:12

Ah, yeah. I keep reading all that about battlers, and new pets. Fingers crossed something good emerges. Eventually.

We had a WoW break during the time the new exp came out, so playing catch up. (We weren't thrilled about how the general game lore was going.) Loving the new wild pet battle exp. Found out when I was working down my "Go sort out..." list. Usually toss as many similar level queue pets in a capture team as reasonable, for what used to be almost pointless exp. Shocked about the dead leveling 50% deal too, although, would rather never 'enjoy' that if possible during tamer leveling. Still may make the occasional rng or bug issue less of a time waster. Not looking forward to seeing what changed with flurry, etc. One of my favorite things included finding sets of wild pets to use in somewhat reliable strats. Hope that's not broken all of those up.

Too bad the statistics wouldn't use something like max level win results 2 or more to count as a 'battle pet' breed held by the player. Which would still be off, but at least it means the pet of that breed was used in an actual pet battle by at least that player.

I just upgraded to Shadowlands (Black Friday deals) for myself and my 2 kids. I'm not too thrilled about all of the death and afterlife lore coming out of it. I played "Classic" and Burning Crusade back when they weren't classic and then took a break. More like quit... instead of writing LUA for addons I learned/started writing Visual Basic and C# for actual work :)

i can not find how to change the default key. also when you "mass rematch export" why doesn't the TD scripts come with the teams? i have to load TD script separately.

Aranesh

TD is a separate addon and does not allow a mass-import, that's why it's sadly not possible to do that in one go.

Yeah I just recently checked the calendar and it seems it's just a bad overlap and the various squirt trackers are not working well with it. Squirt seems to be up on the 7th, but the problem is Squirt is up starting from the weekly reset, and the pet battle week technically still is active for a couple hours on the 7th, but BEFORE the weekly reset. The tracker doesn't seem to take the hours into account and only the day, which is why it shows the incorrect date.

I used to multibox pet battles. I don't use any broadcast software, hacks or Bots, I used add-ons and scroll up and scroll down on my mouse. My three new characters were standing next to Sir Galveston the pet trainer WQ in Dalaran waiting for their pet heal to come off cooldown, when they were evidently reported for cheating.

Viruzzz

wrote on 2020-10-15 04:14:54

This is not a very good solution, but one thing you can do is load the team in, make sure you note the name of the strategy so you can find it, exit the game and go search the Settings file (tsBattlePetScript.lua) in the "Drive:/World of Warcraft/_retail_/WTF/Account/<ACCOUNTID>/SavedVariables" for that name and then you can paste the script in there with the same formatting as the other scripts you have saved, replace line breaks with "/n" (except you have to use the backslash, not the forward slash but I can't write that in this message because it's a banned character and gets stripped out of the message) and save it. Then relaunch the game and you should have a script for that team.

Not an ideal solution, hopefully it will not be broken for long :p

If you're not confident that you can do it without breaking stuff then I don't know of another way to do it.

Just copy the preference files of the add-ons.

Rematch: Rematch.lua
TDBattleScript: tdBattlePetScript.lua

The file path (on a Mac) is like this:

/Applications/World of Warcraft/_retail_/WTF/Account/428082657#1/SavedVariables/Rematch.lua

where the account number will be a different one for you, obviously.
Path structure should be similar on Windows.

Mot

The TD Scripts prefs file should be in the same folder as the Rematch one (“SavedVariables”, path see above) — unless you explicitly and manually deleted it, or deleted it via Twitch Client. (Even if you never synced it to your DropBox folder, I want to say.)

What I would do in any case, is a regular and automated backup of the whole WTF folder. Ideally this is a versioned backup, so that you can go back if something got messed up.

From your profile. I see that you are a new battler, and hav just captured some level 10 pets. Good start!

What would you like to know?

You should do the quests for the Tamers in Kalimdor (for Horde) or Eastern Kingdoms (for Alliance) and basically keep battling and beating the tamers as soon as you can.

This site doesn't explain the low-level tamers, because they are not hard enough. If you are having problems with one, your best bet is to get an extra level or two with your pets and try again, or capture some new pets that are good against that Tamer's pets.

Shenk

I'm having an issue logging in on the browser I normally use (Firefox, I'm using Edge to make this post). When I try to log in with my Battlenet ID on Firefox, for some reason it logs me in on my second account and not my main account. I don't get any options as to which account to choose. I'm logged in on the proper account on blizzard.net, the launcher is logged on the proper account, but this page insists on using that other account to log in, and creates a new account. Obviously, this is a problem because all my pets are on this one (the other one is just for RAF). I've deleted the cookies, cleared the cache, quit Firefox and restarted it. I've deleted that new account that gets created, and tried logging in again and it just recreates that account with that battlenet id. I'm at my wits end trying to get logged in on the proper browser. Any ideas? (I can also log in to this account with Firefox on my Mac with no problem.)

Aranesh

wrote on 2020-02-24 16:56:44

Hey!

That's a really, really odd one. Usually when that happens, you are logged into the other Battle.net account *on your browser* (the battle.net app has nothing to do with this).
Just as an explanation, when you hit that "Login with Battle.net" button, Xu-Fu redirects you in the background to battle.net where it checks for authorization. If there is none, it will prompt you (you did this at the very beginning, first time you logged into Xu-Fu's). And if there is already an authorization it throws you right back to Xu-Fu letting the page know which battle.net ID it is. So whichever account is logged in on battle.net, that one will be sent back to Xu-Fu.

If you go to battle.net on Firefox and log out then into the correct account, you say this still happens?
Have you perhaps tried clearing the battle.net cookies as well?

If that doesn't work, there's one more thing you could try: go to your account security settings on Battle.net and check the connected apps on both your accounts. You'll find Xu-Fu in there. Just delete the connection both times and then log out of the battle.net website.
Then go back here and click the button. It will send you to battle.net and ask you to log in - you can then log in with the *correct* bnet account and this should bring you back here.

Sorry for this being so troublesome for you. I hope it will be solved with that but do let me know if you keep having issues!

Just thought I'd introduce those who are unaware to the root meaning of the word that is going to hit this site when Shadowlands launches.

There are so many changes coming that a massive amount of strategies are going to need to be changed. I would like to offer the - at least temporary - solution (I'm not a mod/admin so I don't know if it has already been put forward) of adding tags back to strategies, specifically a tag to denote whether or not the strategy is viable in Shadowlands content (bearing in mind; some people may not have purchased the xpac). (edited)

Aranesh

wrote on 2020-01-07 05:01:40

Hey!
Yeah, we're aware. A tag for Shadowlands already exists and once we know more details about the exact changes coming and what will be affected, we will tag all strategies affected by it. Might be a big clean-up process that will happen with Shadowlands.

By the way, there will also be a Patch 8.3. tag appearing soon on about 200 strategies due to the changes in some weather effects.

Oddly, when I go to the BfA Family Battler pages, and mouse over the Undead icon... sometimes it says "Not Quite Dead Yet" and sometimes "Unstoppable Undead" (the name of the Argus version).

been having a problem for a few days with updating my pet collection. I don't see my server in the drop down list, I tried using another server and character. It updated the collection but When i try to use Magpie it doesn't recognize that I have any pets.

I know the issue isn't here as it also happens at warcraftpets as well.

Can we have a Dungeons --> Stratholme section, so all the cutting edge pet battles can share their strategies? :)
