Worked perfectly in TWW, but I did change it a little. I didn't have a max level Fragment of Anger so swapped it out for a Cursed Birman (1/2/1). I used the strategy above, as is, up until the Scourged Whelpling "died" and then, on its immunity round, I used Plagued Blood. From there I brought out the Cursed Birman, used Spirit Spikes, then Pounce finished the fight.

Didn't have Anger, brought Desire and my Whelpling ended up killing Fethyr and died in the same turn. I never had to use Desire.
