The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!

At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!

Better strategy :
1- Curse of Doom
2- Shadow Slash ONLY once
3- Unholy Ascension
Bring in your Stitched Pup
4- Howl
5- Diseased Bite until your Stitched Pup dies
6- after resurrect ONE Diseased Bite then Howl
Bring in your Ghostly Skull
7- Ghostly Bite

this ensure the kill for me, the above didn't work well for 2 times for me.

This strat worked great for me using Unborn Val'kyr B/B, Stitched Pup H/P, and Ghostly Skull H/B. Thanks!

Worked perfectly on 9.0 patch when above strategy failed

My Val'kyr is H/H and I couldn't get the above strategy to work. This one worked like a charm and the Howl + Ghostly Bite in the end really did the trick.

guumbah#1177

wrote on 2023-05-11 21:37:46

The original strat is probably breed dependent. My Val'kyr is also H/H and I fall about 200 HP short of killing Flummox at the end. The above from Choppaaz worked first try with 300 HP to spare on Ghostly Skull. Thanks!

Fully compliant on breeds, 19 bandages later, I'm not seeing this come close to working. With the steps posts, you have a Weakness debuff when Curse of Doom ticks, making it hit for about 140, leaving him at full health when your Valkyr is gone. Even if you fire off Curse of Doom on the 2nd round to avoid the Weakness debuff, I didn't get within 700 HP of having this strategy execute. I don't see how this is even remotely viable in SL as posted. Did he not apply the Weakness debuff when this was written?

Same!

chui wrote on 2018-08-24 00:48:09

I tried this with the unborn val'kyr (B/B 1,2,2), infested bear cub (H/P 1,1,2) and ghostly skull (H/P 1,1,1). I followed the steps for the val'kyr exactly, and once my cub came in he started with the diseased bite. When he got low, I tossed in a stun with Bash, as soon as he entered his resurrection round, I cast Corpse Explosion. Brought the Skull in, two shadow slashes later, it was over. My skull didn't come close to dying.

This 100% worked for me as described. You should submit it.

Anonymous wrote on 2017-04-28 00:43:18

I've tried this a half dozen times and haven't even come close to beating him. Not once.

Wee wrote on 2017-05-22 07:00:09

you need to get your stitched pup out with howl before curse of doom explodes
then it's easy

Maidendg wrote on 2017-10-30 15:58:43

thanks for that info Wee, I ended up having to do Shadow Slash first, then Curse of Doom, another Shadow Slash then Unholy Ascension. That gave me the timing to swap in Stitched Pup for Doom's 3rd turn and 4th Doom did Howl. Doom dropped and made big hit.

Mashumaro wrote on 2018-02-27 03:53:28

I don't know if this was the case for you, but this was the case for me. One of my Unborn Val'kyr pets was H/H breed, so it lived longer than a B/B breed would have, meaning that you can't follow this strategy to an exact T. You have to shadow slash one or two times before you can Curse of Doom Flummox.
I think the person who came up with this used a B/B breed. When I switched to my B/B breed Val'kyr, it worked like a charm!

Worked as it says 1st time for me. Can see where the curse of doom and howl together is important. The ghostly bite was actually a bit of overkill but who doesn't like that :-)

Grunch wrote on 2017-01-09 12:08:32

I had only an H/H Unborn Val'kyr, and so the Howl never lined up with Curse of Doom because my Val'kyr survived one round too long every time. The solution is to simply start a battle, let your Val'kyr get hit once, then forfeit but do not heal. Then it worked perfectly!

Ramrant wrote on 2017-01-09 13:16:25

Exactly what I needed to do this !!! Worked like a charm and got lil'necro thanks to it.

Thanks I added it to the description :-)

Ealms wrote on 2017-01-25 11:50:19

I did this with an H/H Valkyr. Rather than quitting the battle after getting damaged, I just did my Curse of Doom on a later round. I used Shadow Slash twice and then Curse of Doom and that lined up fine. That seemed simpler and a little more damage certainly doesn't hurt in this fight.

Bix wrote on 2017-01-12 17:11:59

Excellent strat, my Val'kyr was wounded from a previous fight and I couldn't even land a single shadow slash, I had to pass with Stitched Pup to be sure the Doom explodes with Howl active. Boom.

Azrulian wrote on 2016-12-28 07:18:42

Worked wonderfully first try. I dont think this needs a skull personally. :)

David G wrote on 2016-12-28 04:01:26

If you don't have a Ghostly Skull, Ghastly Kid (x,x,1) works as an alternative. You just need that single hard hitting attack, and it doesn't matter that Ghostly Bite will stun you, since the fight is over anyway after it hits.

Nuvi wrote on 2016-12-27 14:41:34

This also worked with a H/H Val'kyr breed. Thanks for strategy, it was nice and quick.
