I used Barrel Toss on turn 8 instead of pass and Alemental survived and could use a second Barrel Tos before getting hit by Antaen Cannon. Therefore Soul of the Forge only had to use 3 turns to finish.

Worked fine and I didn't need the third pet, but the Alemental had to pass twice before dying. RNG in my favour probably but it might be worth setting up Barrel Toss rather than passing in case that happens and you can get in the extra attack.
