This is based on the original 10.1 PTR tamer pets' stats/quality/etc. It might need adjustments on last-minute changes (potential nerfs).

The key is to counter the first two pets using any of their best counters and finish them off at minimum one for one.
At the last pet choose a pet specifically for its Life Exchange and Dragonkin type abilities with magic damage. When last pet enters, use Life Exchange to cure yourself from the earlier splash damage and bring the enemy HP within striking distance of triggering the Dragonkin damage buff special. The last pet should be finished in three abilities in this fashion. |

The only way I've had this fail is if Muar gets stunned immediately upon entering the battle, which happened once in 30+ run throughs so far.

Credit for the strategy goes to njpotter90 on Wowhead. This is a variation as the original strat posted required a Hungry Burrower from the Wild Hunt paragon cache in place of the 2nd pet used here.
Dustie is a bit of a wild card in this battle regardless of team comp. Once he comes in after turn 9, it's entirely dependant on his ability usage when Roggy dies. However, even with crits and RNG from which abilities Dustie uses, multiple battles have confirmed this team comp reliably wins the match. |

I interpreted the strat to mean always keeping each pet in until it dies - no swaps.
From what you say, you seem to have suffered from the AoE more than I did, but this doesn't ofc tell us how, what sequence of moves actually happened, and how long your Starlette survived, which could be relevant in one or both of your cases. As I mentioned in my comment below, I did have to freestyle when using different breeds, and maybe that could be necessary, depending in RNG, with any breeds.
I saved my own logs, but they will be of little use here. It might be interesting to seelogs of a battle that failed.

Comments can be very informative and helpful for other users, even when they are pointing out problems - perhaps especially when they are pointing out problems and deficiencies - when they contain useful information.
When I see a comment like this with no content and no useful information, my default assumption is that the problem is PEBCAK. Often, the kind of people who put out a diss with nothing to back it up have just made a mistake. In come cases, they are even using the strat on the wrong tamer!
This strat rose to second rating of 8 on the page as I see it now. And three success comments below. That tells me it is viable.
Sometimes, when I see a comment like this, I take a look at the strat myself, but it's not up today. I'll try to remember to look again when it is up.
The thing that catches my eye immediately is that these are all multi-breed pets, but no breeds are specified. It could be that some breeds work better than others. Or it could be that the original commenter was just Doing It Wrong.

OK, so I tried three times, and won three times, though I had to depart from the strat and freestyle in the second test, when I was using less-optimal breeds.
Test #1 - Optimal breeds: Perfect
In the first test, I used a P/P Starlette, S/S Aqua Strider, P/P EPW.The battle proceeded exactly as predicted: the Starlette killed Swoggy, the Strider's Pump plus one Water Jet finished Tempe, and the EPW hung on in there after its nap to dispose of Dustie. I would recommend that team, though I did not suffer a stun from Moth Dust, so that mught be a complicating factor, depending when it might have hit. Fairly low chance, I would think.
Test #2: Suboptimal breeds: Needs attention
Second test was with a less-suitable set of breeds. H/H Starlette, P/S Eternal Strider, H/S Emerald Whelpling. This Starlette didn't have the oomph to finish Swoggy with its Supercharged Wind-Up. What I should have done here was Powerball to finish Swoggy, but I stuck with the recipe one round, then mentally declared a bailout and used.Powerball the next round. This problem is specific to the H/H breed of Starlette; all other breeds would have enough power to kill Swoggy cleanly.
Swoggy gone, I got in a Supercharge and Wind-Up on Tempe, which chunked half his health, leaving an easy layup for the Strider. Now far off-piste, I went for a second cycle of shield and Emerald Dream on the Whelpling to hold on long enough to finish Dustie off.
Test #3: Suboptimal breeds: Needs attention, maybe?
Third test was with a H/P Starlette, a Purple Puffer, and a P/S EPW. The Starlette finished Swoggy off on cue, but then survived an extra round against Tempe, which i used for a Powerball. The Puffer destroyed Tempe, and its slowness allowed for an extra round of Magma Wave against the EPW, which is what I was testing for. The EPW came through at the end just fine, though.
.
I would call this a 5-star strat IF a) the deaths and swaps were documented in the strat and b) these breed-sensitive variations were documented and/or restricted for. As it is, it's maybe a little unfinished - call it a 4.5? (edited)
