Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

very very RNG heavy. my first try, spirt claws missed 2 times in a row - should have forfeit. 2nd fight, spirt claws hit, but i wasn't able to get corpse explosion off. 3rd try - finally got it.

Not much has changed since SL pre-patch. It's all about rng. If your spirit claw misses it's pretty much over.

Sneaks

This is so ridiculously RNG-heavy... And yet it's still the best strategy so far. Man, I despise this damn rodent so much.

Celtra

I used a combination of Schahmaar and Silvur's suggestions above and it worked on the first try. My Ghostshell's stats were 1668 health, 260 power, 265 speed. My Fen Crab's stats were 1319 health, 357 power, 244 speed.

Snarly 1-1-2
Ghostshell Crab 1-2-1
Fen Crab 1-x-2

T1: Surge
T2: Spirit Spikes
T3: Bubble
T4-7: Spirit Claws
T8: Rip
T9: Blood in the Water
T10: Bring in Snarly, swaps to Ghostshell

T12: Bubble
T13: Spirit Claws
T14: Spirit Claws

Brillant strategy! It worked on fourth try, and I have a healthy Fen Crab (health 1644, power 292, speed 244). Perhaps that's why it took four tries. The Ghostshell Crab is the key here, and the Spirit Claws has to hit every time. Had to restart once because of a miss at T4.
Thank you very much Celtra!

Thanks! Way better than the alternative 2 listed above.

Arinei wrote on 2018-03-06 00:04:55

Used an s/s golden civet in place of snarly, and this worked just the same. Great strat.

Eekwibble

wrote on 2018-03-17 07:02:38

20+ attempts and no joy.
For a start, the Surge on round 1 is pointless, all it does is waste time because Snozz heals on round 2.
2nd, Snarly doesn't do anything except get hit. What's the point in it being Snarly?
Never mind the fact that Spirit Claws just missed 8 times in a row. -.-

Swapped the Fen Crab for Chuck and switched places with Chuck and Snarly. It was still massively rng-dependent but at least Snozz went down, even if it was to 1 last tick of Rip. >.<

Cataerei wrote on 2018-05-05 16:57:06

Worked perfectly first time! Great strat. Substituted Chuck in for Snarly.

After getting cancer fail after fail I tried to combine a couple of tactics and it worked so I felt I had to put it here for maybe some others that are struggling. (Still some RNG involved you have to hit every Spirit Claw)
I used Spiny Terrapin B/B (1,2,1) , Ghostshell crab H/S (1,2,1) , Snarly H/P (1,1,2)

1. Pass - Ghostshell is forced in
2. Spirit Spikes
3. Bubble
4.-7. Spirit Claw (every one of them has to hit)
8. Pass - Snarly forced in
9. RIp
10. Blood in the water
11. Surge - Spiny forced in
12. Headbutt
13. Bite
14. Snarly is back in - Blood in the water ... should be done

It takes some time and patience but I got lucky and it worked 1st time for me. Good luck.

I was just (finally!) successful with a slight variation on this strat, subbing in a Coastal Scuttler (1/1/1, I was using a green level 23 and it worked a treat) for the turtle, replacing Headbutt/Bite with Stampede - the debuff made a big enough difference that I still won despite missing a Spirit Claw earlier.

Roost

wrote on 2018-06-14 22:34:02

With the above strat it took me 3 tries too get it. Good luck be with you the RNG is REAL.

KodeX wrote on 2018-04-12 21:32:25

Absolutely golden. First time along with Beast that I actually one-tried Snozz.
I used a Spiritbound Crab instead of the Terrapin (1806 HP), Ghostshell Crab (1668 HP), and my Gulp Froglet (1627 HP). No misses, no crits, smooth perfection. :)

Azerate

wrote on 2018-02-24 21:11:23

The strat relies on NOT missing with spirit claws, which took me many tries unfortunately.

You have to use it 5 times, and not even 1 of those can miss.

Also, about 1 out of 5 times your froglet will die before you manage to corpse explode it.

Khes

wrote on 2018-04-16 04:32:37

my first try, missed 4 out of 5 times, 80% accuracy my ass.

Kathleene

wrote on 2018-04-10 02:12:17

Dang!! I got tired of seeing that dude digging up that bone! I kept hoping he'd choke on it. :) I tried both #1 & #2 strategies here, multiple times, and couldn't get either one to work for me. Eventually, I tried the suggestion made by several other folks to replace the Terrapin with Snarly, and it finally, finally, worked for me. Even then, it had to be done several times before we were victorious. The time that worked, Ghostshell used Bubble first, then Spirit Spikes, then Spirit Claws. It worked, even tho Spirit Claws missed once. Previously, every time SC missed, we lost. I don't know if the rearrangement had anything to do with our win or if it was totally luck and RNG, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Thanks to everyone for the strategies.

Alternative #2 worked like a charm! First try.

noctus wrote on 2017-09-10 13:20:36

saw the snarly comment. used that to surge the second pass

note on spirit claws: its 80% hit chance but you need 100% hits

Tick wrote on 2018-01-13 00:48:16

I'd be happy with 80%. I'm averaging 2 misses per attempt right now on 5 attacks.

Schahmaar wrote on 2017-10-15 04:07:23

You can do it without Froglet!

Simply switch the damn froglet to a Fen Crab (P/P) (or whatever equivalent with Rip/Blood in the Water). I used an H/H Strand Crawler for the Terrapin as it's only a punchball, so make sure it has sufficient HP, and replace Toxic Skin with Rip and Corpse Explosion with Blood in the Water. Maybe I was lucky but it worked first try!

english please wrote on 2017-10-18 00:00:34

"corpse explosion" none of the pets you listed have that

Abi wrote on 2017-10-20 08:01:46

They mean replace Corpse Explosion listed on Turn 9 on the posted strat (Gulp Froglet).

DavidG wrote on 2018-01-01 16:23:25

Thank you SChahmaar, I can't help but say that any strat that needs a Gulp Froglet does not meet Xu-Fu's "criteria" because they can be extremely hard to come by. It's an insanely rare drop from a mob on a long respawn, and at least on my home server they're around 40K on the AH. Sorry, but I'm not paying that much for a pet. And @SChahmaar, there is a certain amount of RNG in this due to the 80% hit chance on Spirit Claws. I suspect you can succeed if you miss at most one time with that. Other than that, this is a rock solid strategy.

Silvur-Dragonblight wrote on 2017-09-18 01:36:41

After trying every strat on both Alternative 1 and 2, I used this team based on all the feedback on this page.

Snarly x-2-x
Ghostshell Crab 1-2-1
Gulp Froglet (H/P) x-2-2

Follow the strat for alternative 2 except SURGE instead of pass with pet 1

This was the ONLY strat that worked and it worked the first time after about 20 attempts with various others. Thanks to all who suggested these pets.

Rilla wrote on 2017-09-18 12:29:36

This strategy works perfectly

Xna - Doomhammer wrote on 2017-09-18 13:01:08

Snarly should be x-1-x for surge.

This went off script with a pet dying when it shouldn't and wrong one being forced in but bumbled may way through this somehow first time and won!

Uludil wrote on 2017-09-21 16:08:48

This doesn't work at all. It's even worse RNG than the other strats. Spirit claws only has a 80% chance to hit. And it's all over if Flank has a triple hit. Failed this more than 10 times now

Wreathy wrote on 2017-09-23 00:25:03

Worked first time, even with one Spirit Claws missing. Thanks!

cat wrote on 2017-10-02 10:50:04
