Best pet for wild captures

I have heard this, who do you recommend pairing with Grumpy?

I always back it up with a Void-Scarred Anubisath . My main capture team has a Will of Remornia as the 3rd pet, but I switch it around based on the pet type i am going after to counter. the Void due to its sheer HP and sSpiritfire Bolt is a good counter for flying, while Sandstorm mitigates critters and aquatic which are very common. the 3rd pet i tend to look for self healing for sustainability to not have to bandage as often as I am breed hunting wild pets which means a lot of cancelled battles. i sometimes swap out Remonia for lil'rag or Xu-Fu if i know I am going after certain pet famalies.

Yeah, Grumpy's Howl + Superbark combo is great. Lord Woofington is effectively the same, a little more Power.

I use Anubisath Idol from old habit, but I endorse the Void-Scarred Anubisath as being just as good or better, depending.

Generically, I use a P/P Emperor Crab as my third, but against high level flyers I'll probably replace the crab with a P/P Emerald Proto-Whelp. I like the Crab because it can put down a bit of a heal for Grumpy if it is needed, and it has a very predictable damage output.

You can go for faster killers, especially when facing high level wild pets, but I'm never in a rush when on Safari.

But the important thing is to have one pet with a damage ability that can't kill, like Superbark or Weakening Blow.

Lord Woofington is a good backup, but Grumpy has more HP and Speed which is more useful that Power as the 2 hit combo will take down every pet but a flyer.

I hadn't looked at an Emperor Crab but i will probably include it in one of my capture teams.

Most wild pets are either a Beast or a Critter, so sufficient counters should always be included in your team.

When facing mechanical pets also look at the skill set of your targeted capture pet and see if they have explode. Then keep leaving the fight until they don't have explode as an ability. Wild pets abilities will randomly be selected each time you enter a battle.

Thank you both very much! Was able to get the achievement for capturing a pet in all zones on Eastern Kingdoms yesterday with the team-building advice you gave. I used a regular Anubisath Idol and Emerald Proto-Whelp to round out my team and it worked okay, but I will look to get a Emperor Crab and Void-Scarred to fully flesh out my capture team.

Congratulations! I'm glad it worked out for you. But don't feel you have to do anything special to get more pets just for capturing, Almost any strong, tanky Level 25 can easily solo almost any wild battle,

Superbark (or Weakening Blow) is the special sauce that means you won't be accidentally killing the pet you want to capture, and you realise how important that is only after hunting for specific breeds for hours that you then immediately slaughter. :)

Pretty much anything will work for the other two. I think I recall Discodoggy saying he uses a Blackfuse Bombling and Armageddon to reduce the health on all the opposing team's pets to speed up the process! Not advisable for low-level pets, and I wouldn't risk it myself, but everyone can develop the team they feel most comfortable with,
