I was able to get two rounds in with the Sentinel's Companion, but when I brought in the Pygmy Owl, it ended up dying with Ticker at nearly full hp because of Bloodfang, and the fact that one of my Savage Talons was eaten by Cocoon Strike's block.

I definitely needed my third pet. I had the new Squawkling, which stayed faster than Ticker even after going below 50% hp. Being faster was the only thing that saved me from losing the fight.

Because Ticker won't always use Cocoon Strike on CD, this fight can be a hair RNG. As long as you're bringing in a third flyer that's strong against flyers, and will stay faster than Ticker, you *should* be okay if the worst RNG luck happens.

Used direbeak for third pet. Pygmy Owl didn't survive Lilly so brought in Direbeak to get swapped for Sentinel. Then used Direbeak with Ironskin, Falcosaur swarm and Predatory Strike to finish the fight. Still won first try but didn't go as written.

Worked for Shadowlands prepatch. I only needed first two pets but I'm guessing by other comments I got lucky so chose a good third pet.

I used Northern Hawk Owl 122 Cyclone, savage talon predatory strike Lilly dies, Fledgeling Nether Ray was swaped in 212 and finished the fight with arcane blast. I never got to the Sentinels companion although he was there.
