Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Needs a hit at the end to finish the job most of the time. It doesn't matter whether you have Savage Talon or Quills selected.

use(#3) [ round~2,4 ]

Thank you. I used a level 1 pet in 3rd spot and swapped it in/out after Haunt and before Ikky. 319 XP with hat - enough to go from level 1 to Level 4 which helps when Squirt is up (pets need to be 4 or 5 to benefit from Squirt Day?)

Arcuballis

wrote on 2021-03-12 14:36:39

If you use this strategy you can level any pet with Squirt, even level 1. :) They don't take any hits. https://www.wow-petguide.com/Strategy/730/Deebs,_Tyri_and_Puzzle

Thank you. It took me a while to get an Enchanted Broom and Boneshard but when I did, soo much easier. I now prefer Dalaran but only cos Squirt doesn't level alts :)

Arcuballis

You're welcome! The Legion fights are great for levelling from 45-50, I avoided having to take a whole bunch of alts through BfA that way.

Swapped to a leveling pet before bringing Ikky in, not worth it for 213exp with the hat.

TD Script

use(Curse of Doom:218) [!enemy.aura(Curse of Doom:217).exists]
use(Haunt:652)
use(Black Claw:919) [!enemy.aura(Black Claw:918).exists]
use(Savage Talon:1370) [enemy.hp <= 264]

Works as of Pre-Patch 9.0 but you might have to throw in a Savage Talon to end it.

MaR1LyN

wrote on 2020-10-19 08:38:05

Tried a couple of alts today and all needed the Savage Talon at the end to finish off.

Adjusted the script to accommodate:

ability(218)
ability(652)
change(#2)
ability(919) [self.round=1]
ability(581) [self.round=2]
ability(#1) (edited)

Snarly alone can beat this fight.

Nalli wrote on 2017-05-08 13:23:55

Just tried this strat with a leveling pet (lvl 1 Felbat pup)...after you use haunt, you get a free swap to bring in leveling pet, then immediately switch to Ikky, it wasn't much exp, but I went from level 1 to level 4 just using the hat...good for adding a bit of health to your lowbies :)

Mergas wrote on 2017-08-04 00:15:22

Just tried your leveling version. Worked perfectly, 1 to 4 in one go. This is a much faster fight than the snail/zandalari version I had been using, so even without leveling a pet I think I prefer this strategy.

As I already had this set up with levelling pet in position 3, I just changed the two change(#x) numbers around. Thanks for the script :-)

i tried above strat ... works perfectly, even tho my Ikky was only lvl 22 , still managed it without even touching the 3rd pet.

Babbette wrote on 2018-02-12 14:17:01

Zandalari Ankle or Kneebiter can be used instead of ikky for those that dont have them. black claw, then hunting hunting party are exactly the same skills.

MolsonofAle wrote on 2017-10-13 20:11:47

Shimmershell Snail 2,2,1
Zandalari Anklerender 2,1,2
Shell Shield, Dive, Absorb till shell shield at 1 round left. Dive on cd.
Swap to Zandalari when he goes to egg stage. Black claw , Flock, Leap and done.
I have used this strat for months never a problem.
Mainly because at the time I didn't have the suggested ones listed.
Mentioning this one for others that might be where I was.
Never tried a lvl pet but Eekwibbles strat for that sounds good.
Good Luck. Have Fun and Thanks Again to everyone for this sight and all the help. :-)

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-10-24 01:17:07

Unfortunately, the xp for this battle got nerfed into the ground. It simply isn't worth doing it to level other pets any more.
