Maybe I got lucky but after Sproutling carries by wiping out the first two pets, it'd be hard to lose to Gnaw with any other two elemental pets. Water abilities ideally but the spider worked. Didn't even need the water spirit.

The re-worked strategy performed quite well, and only took 18 rounds at 2min 6sec. :)

I found this to be very RNG dependent, and when I did finally win (4th try), the strat did not line up. FWIW, my PWS had about 1/2 its health when Gnaw died.

Id used a EarthSpirit (HP), FireSpirit (PS) and WaterSpirit (HS) and this strat worked perfect for me. (editado)

None of the strats were working for me, and I don't have a Razortooth, so I subbed in my Cinderweb Recluse (1,2,2) in for the Pandaren Earth Spirit, and Core Hound Pup (1,1,2) as suggested above for the Fel Flame.

The fight basically went the same as it did with the Earth Spirit, but the one hit I could get in on Crawdead was more powerful with Skitter than Stone Shot, and that seemed to make the difference. Water Spirit had enough health to properly finish Gnaw.

I second this, I used Cindederweb Recluse over PES. I was nearly able to take out both of the first two pets with Skitter before it going down.

This strategy failed for me (my PWS died the same turn as the enemy pet did, resulting in a 'draw'), which is fairly unusual for Xu-Fu strategies, so I figured I would try to delve deeper into 'why' it failed to work.

The problem with the listed strategy is that Bone Bite (Crawdead's main attack) has a HUGE variance range. If his two attacks on your PWS are in the upper portion of his damage range, then the next pet (Gnaw) will end up killing your PWS before Geyser goes off. This means the chance of failure for the strategy as currently listed is actually very high (probably around 50%). There's a couple ways to work around this.

The one I found best was the suggestion below about replacing Fel Flame with a Core Hound Pup; even my level 20 Core Hound Pup put up a wildly better showing than Fel Flame did. He ended up killing Crawdead by himself entirely, even when he got some very high hits from Crawdead's main ability. I used Howl -> Scratch -> Scratch -> Scratch. Presumably, at this point, if my pet was level 25 (and I hadn't gotten horrendously unlucky), I could even lead off against Gnaw with a Burrow. However, that ultimately proved to be optional, as PWS solo'd Gnaw even with the Geyser build.

Replacing Whirlpool with Geyser will likely also work, as the stun from Geyser does not even play a role in this fight under any case, making Whirlpool a clearly better option. However, without a more solid second pet, you run a higher risk of losing PWS against Gnaw from unlucky crits. Still, simply swapping to Whirlpool should drop the failure rate down substantially for this strategy.

This strategy is way too unreliable. Tried it three times, failed each time, before switching to the first strat (Electrified Razortooth & Tiny Snowman). That one worked first time I tried, and I was even able to level a pet.

Tried the original strat like 3 times, my Water spirit never managed to kill Gnaw. Used your strat, Core Hound Pup instead of fel flame, got it for first try, for Water spirit I just needed 2 Water jet to finish off Gnaw

XuFu's strat worked fine for me, but I did find the Core Hound Pup an improvement. Scratch until Crawdead's Undead round, then Burrow, and Gnaw was in two-shot range.

This strat didn't work for me, after three attempts and also swapping to a Searing Scorchling. The geyser never got a chance to go off before my PWS died. I ended up swapping its moveset and used Whirlpool on its first move, then Dive. Then only needed 1x Water Jet when it emerged from Dive to finish him off.

This does not work earth spirit always dies at turn 1 rock barrage. then fel flame dies after 2 burns, crawdead will be up. Use dive first then water jet and crawdead dies. after he died first time use whirlpool. then waterjet last pet to death

I see the error here. I first used a Searing Scorchling which has more health points and can manage Crawdead alone. But I swapped it out for a Fel Flame since that one is much easier to obtain.
I used your adjustments, they make the strategy work fine :) Thank you!!
