Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Not working with H/B Firewing not sure why :(

Still works great as of 5/23. Sentinel's Companion doesn't quite finish it every time, but no problem for third pet to hit once.

Mike wrote on 2021-03-03 20:29:32

Outstanding strat. That final moth was a fiery pain in my side for about 32 attempts, while I used my Ethereal and similar to dodge the first CoD which the Book threw at you, usually twice. Stupid tunnel vision made me avoid countering that nasty moth. BTW, this was 5 or 6 months after SL patch went live. Super.

My first shot at this failed. Second try I won with less than 100hp on Sentinel's Companion. Otherwise, works fine. Thank you :)

Ikky (1,1,1)
Any Pet speed > 260
Any Pet

Black Claw
Flock (Breezy Book dies)
Black Claw
Flock (Both Ikky and Helpful Spirit Dies)
Bring in any flying pet > 260 speed to finish up the moth

I personally went with Amber Moth (2,1,2)

Cohibadad wrote on 2017-01-02 11:55:37

Firewing works exactly the same as Blazing Firehawk. Scorched Earth then Deep Burn until Firewing dies then Sentinel's Companion.

Does not work with a B/B Firewing, he is getting wrecked before the 2nd pet enters undead round. Sentinels companion and H/P teroclaw hatchling are also getting 1 shot by the moth when swapped in after dropping too low in the backline from arcane explosion

Mellexx#1593

wrote on 2018-01-28 14:54:03

Sunfire Kaliri works very very well instead of blazing firehawk, only took 3 hits to kill the first pet the B/B Firewing doesn't have a fast enough speed, or enough power.

Worked great first time, thanks!

Ralthor wrote on 2017-02-11 10:20:34

Absolutely could not get Alternative 1 to work. This one shotted them though.

Anonymous wrote on 2016-12-15 12:45:53

Hi, i love your guides. But this strat doesnt work. I tried 4 times then gave up and went for the alternative 2. Super fast and super easy. That should be the 'default' strategy!

EyeSage wrote on 2016-12-02 01:31:58

I used cauterize when the undead pet resurrected. And this went well. Ty.

Rashid-Brachydios@SilvermoonEU wrote on 2016-11-19 15:08:26

You still haven't fixed the skill slots. It should be 212 not 121.

I'm pretty sure it's correct the way it is right now :-)

Fiamma29 wrote on 2016-11-14 16:50:40

When this strat was suggested as a comment on the other strat, Scorched Earth was used, not Shriek. Using Shriek, my Blazing Firehawk can't even finish off one pet.

Gil wrote on 2016-11-14 17:20:43

Ah... that would be the problem yes. Deep Burn doesn't do much damage without Scorched Earth up.

Using Scorched Earth kills the book in time for the spirit to refresh CoD, and should end up with the spirit and the fire hawk dying at the same time. Which lines up the companion's ethereal with moth dust (and leaves the moth at the mercy of the companion's 2 magic attacks).

Fiamma29 wrote on 2016-11-15 02:38:57

Just went again using Scorched Earth, flawless. Definitely recommend updating the strat. Thanks!

Yes of course, that was my mistake, sorry for the trouble! It's changed now :-)
