I'm not sure if another breed of Lil' Bad Wolf will work. Possibly a PS, but the speed is somewhat important. The Rotten Little Helper is really there to do a big guaranteed attack, the booby trap is a nice-to-have. Club is chosen for if, somehow, he has to fight one of the critters.

Backflip will only work vs Brul'dan, Critters are immune to it. I only tried twice, but that was enough to confirm that the odds of Hopling ONLY fighting Brul'dan and not taking damage from the other one are very low.

Feral Vermling doesn't seem to work as a substitute-- it's not fast enough for Backflip to work, or for Tongue Lash to hit an extra time.
