Undermoths are known to be some of the most intelligent moths on Azeroth. This is not saying much.
I just caught my second Undermoth at /way #2256 61.3 77.8 Undermoth It was backline pet for a Shadowy Oozeling.
My second Undermoth was of grey quality. I had the Unseeming Shift debuff that you can get in these locations:

Edit: Less then 20 minutes later I caught another Undermoth of common quality. It was also a backline pet of a Shadowy Oozeling and I still had the debuff. Location: /way #2256 63.8 88.9 Undermoth (edited)
I found one in Rak-Ush (78.81, 80.50), so it does not only appear near Weaver's Lair as suggested by the Source information. It was in the backline though.
It might! I think the Abyssal Lurker might be the same way. They were likely first created as a reward for something, then tossed in as wild pets, but kept their default blue quality. ^^
