High XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!

Modified script to work with Raven dying early, but then of course couldn't get that to happen again, after modification. Posting it in case it's useful, but early Raven death part is untested. *edit, spouse used modded script, and Raven early death was handled fine.

either some funky RNG or the strat doesn't work, didn't even get a 2nd alpha strike off with 2nd pet before they died, rocket still at 25% health remaining
ok so don't use the step by step, use the script below (edited)

FOR SNOWFEATHER TEAM UP quest - I made sure I had snowfeather out before the fight and in the first position for the battle. I used crouch on the first step (helps with cyclone?) then switched to Teroclaw and Gilnean and followed the steps above. When they died, it was Crouch and Savage Talon until the last enemy pet was below 25% (369?) then Predatory Strike. Got the world quest, the family familiar and the hatchling quests all in one :) I hope this helps someone. Thank you for steps that let me adapt for my hatchling :) (edited)

Dorelei wrote on 2018-08-10 19:52:25

Just tried this strategy post-pre-patch using dodge and ravage without nature's ward. I used ravage when the first pet was down to 400 health or so to recoup some health, and just used alpha strike at the end with no natures ward. Did not have to bring in third pet.

Thanks, I updated the strategy with these changes!

The updated strategy works in Shadowlands prepatch. My Gilnean Raven DID die early but as you state bringing in the Teroclaw hatchling did the job anyway. Thanks for updating the strategy.

Level 1 pet, Mechanical Axebeak P/P 1/2/1 Snowfeather Hatchling 1/2/1

Easy leveling tactic!

vs 1st enemy pet- Decoy, Haywire, Alpha Strike

swap to Snowfeather Hatchling

Crouch , Falcosaur Swarm!, Predatory Strike, Falcosaur Swarm!

if your pet is still alive, soak the big Prowl hit, if not, swap to Mechanical Axebeak

A) Haywire -> Alpha Strike if needed
B) if u want to to level pet- Decoy, swap to level 1, then back to Mechanical Axebeak

-> Haywire -> Alpha Strike if needed

Snowfeather Hatchling was random pick cause of Crouch vs 2 debuffs, but it worked well.
As always Mechanical Axebeak- flying god VS BEASTS! ^^

Evil wrote on 2016-12-06 21:46:35

Wait what.. lol, forgot about the random aoe factor from 2nd enemy pet.. ur leveling pet can not be level 1, sorry i am stupid :D

BUT LEVEL 10+- SHOULD EASILY WORK! :)

Schahmaar wrote on 2016-12-21 15:51:46

Works perfectly! Used a S/B Axebeak...should work reliably with every breed.

Yeah, but P/P is the best breed for flying pets (in most situations) because thanks to passive they (usually) attack 1st ;)
This pet is very cheap, try to find/make P/P version, 1 of best flying pets.

Pretty much used this strat but with these pets:

Tiffany Nelson (5)

1: Mechanical Axebeak (1,2,1)
2: Direbeak Hatchling (1,2,1)
3: Sharptalon Hatchling (1,1,1)

Worked fine, thanks!

Another fun option for this battle is an all-Falcosaur team. I used the Direbeak (1/2/2), Snowfeather (1/2/2) , and Bloodgazer (2/1/2) Hatchlings; but you could replace any one of them with the Sharptalon if you so desire. The first two cleared the fight, and Bloodgazer never entered the ring.

With each one, I first cast their shielding ability (#2), then Warning Squawk (#3), then Swarm (#1). I renewed the shields and squawk when available and, otherwise, just swamed the enemies into unconsciousness. I've only done this once, so can't promise that it will work 100%; but, from what I saw, I believe it will be readily repeatable. If you try it, have fun, I did! Thanks, Xu-Fu.

falcosaur party worked perfect.

i'd add one thing, direbeak is the only one that can live through the webbing dmg on rocket unless you don't mind burning the pets and just popping with the double dmg swoop

I'm pretty sure this guide wants you to use a GILNEAN RAVEN S/S cause the B/B version dies too early. Use a S/S Crow or something else suggested here, cause B/B Gilnean won't cut it!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-05-25 06:13:40

My B/B raven killed Rocket before Nocturnal Strike even came off cooldown. No crits, but also no misses. I can't imagine S/S is required; they're pretty rare now and I think it could exacerbate your HP-is-0 issue.

But rather than a moth, an extra one of the various Call Darkness + Nocturnal Strike birds might make a good third since weather stays when a pet dies. So as of 7.2 that's:
- Crow (Darkmoon)
- Fledgling Warden Owl (Wardens rep / AH)
- Nightwatch Swooper (pet charm vendor in Dalaran)
- Northern Hawk Owl (blue-quality capture in Highmountain)
- Long-Eared Owl (any-quality capture in Highmountain/Stormheim), or
- Dread Hatchling (WoD CE).

If one is not picky about stats but is picky about time and currency, get Northern Hawk Owl. Savage Talon and Quills are outclassed by Alpha Strike on paper, but most raven strategies are really only in it for the Nocturnal Strike anyway.

Mergas wrote on 2017-09-01 23:57:53

Used the main strategy, substituting a Northern Hawk Owl for the Gilnean Raven. Used Call Darkness, Nocturnal Strike and Savage Talon in place of Alpha Strike. The Owl easily survived Rocket, and my Teroclaw roasted Marshmallow. My moth just fluttered around looking pretty.

amber moth (212), flamering moth (122), and imperial moth (211). got lucky with some stuns

I used a Vale Flitter (1, 2, 2) - Mechanical Axebreak (1, 2, 1) and Azure Crane Chick (1, 1, 2). No idea if breed matters, but all mine were P/P.

Turn 1 - Vale Flitter casts Call Lightning
Turn 2 - Switch to Mech. Axebreak
Turn 3 - Haywire, Jinx dies.
Turn 4 - Haywire continues
Turn 5 - Decoy
Turn 6 - Switch to Azure Crane Chick
Turn 7 - Cleansing Rain
Turn 8 - 11 - Surge until pets die. Both Azure Crane and Rocket died together on turn 11
Turn 12 - Vale Flitter casts Call Lightning
Turn 13 - Switch to Mech Axebeak
Turn 14 - Finish with Haywire.

No idea if this was just a fluke or not, and I'm sure there's ways to refine this but I thought I'd share what worked for me.

I didn't bother using Nature's Ward against Marshmallow because his Beast attacks are weak vs Flying; since Nature's Ward turns him into elemental, it would be a wash. Didn't need the moth :)

Poochi wrote on 2016-11-17 13:09:03

Instead of the Raven I brought in a Dread Hatchling with Peck. Completely wrecked second pet and killed it in 3 turns.

Kiolna wrote on 2016-10-28 11:45:03

Didn't need the third pet here. Thought I'd give the sharptalon a shot as I had to level it to 25 for the quests anyways, and I wanted to see what it could do. Apparently awesome is what it can do.

Round 1: Rip
Round 2: Warning Squark
Round 3-4: Falcosaur Swarm
Both pets die.
Send in Northern Hawk owl
Round 5: Call darkness
Round 6: Nocturnal Strike
Round 7/8: Savage Talon until Rocket Dies
Marshmallow comes in.
Round 9: Savage Talon
Round 10: Nocturnal Strike
Round 11/12: Savage Talon until Marshmallow dies. (This only took me two rounds, but my Owl was pretty low on health at the end. 3rd Pet may be needed with any random attack to clean up at the end)

Aeliel wrote on 2016-10-22 16:18:54

Used a Crow (S/S, in case it makes a difference) instead of the Gilnean Raven, and similarly to other people, didn't even need the moth. Rocket even died before Nocturnal Strike came back up, so I got it off on Marshmallow before my Crow died, and then from there it was easy to finish it off with the Teroclaw Hatchling.

Argent wrote on 2016-10-17 19:53:15

My B/B Gilnean Raven died to Rocket, but instead of bring the Teroclaw Hatchling, I went straight to my H/B Oasis Moth. It was able to take Marshmallow down with no problems.

Solitha wrote on 2016-10-12 06:38:40

Huh. Teroclaw didn't make the grade on this one, died to DoT damage in the same round as Jinx. However, the Raven got Rocket down quickly enough that the second Nocturnal Strike was actually on Marshmallow. I pushed the Raven through to the end, and the moth was able to easily finish the fight.

Changed it slightly to accomodate for this, thank you!

Pich wrote on 2016-10-09 19:04:34

Gilnean raven doesn't live long enough for the second nocturnal strike but I was still able to finish it with teroclaw hatchling.

GnuclearGnome wrote on 2016-09-28 22:39:55

I hadn't leveled my Teroclaw Hatchling yet, so I used Ikky (P/S) instead set up with abilities x-1-1 (first slot ability doesn't matter - not used). Led off with Black Claw and followed up with Flock and Jinx was dead. Even with the speed reduction from Forboding Curse, Ikky was still faster than Jinx. Used Black Claw once on Rocket before Ikky died, then swapped to Gilnean Raven and followed your strat above for Rocket. After Marshmallow came in I used Alpha Strike once then Call Darkness after which my Raven died. The rest of the fight with my moth (I used an Amber Moth) followed your script above. Also, just "any" moth won't follow your strategy as some don't have Slicing Winds or don't have Cocoon Strike. The Ashwing and Flamering Moths don't have Slicing Winds, although both have Alpha Strike that may work especially if their speed is high enough to allow the extra damage for striking first. Lastly the Royal Moth doesn't have Cocoon Strike, however its Counterspell may work in Cocoon Strike's place.

Jeack wrote on 2016-09-28 02:47:18

For those without Gilnean Raven - Crow is the same thing and easier to obtain.

I also did not use Moth.

Ndianagnomes/Etts of ettspets wrote on 2016-09-03 00:27:55

Didn't even need the moth. Solid strat.
